Sometimes the process of uploading photos to Mafelo may be interrupted or end with an error. We understand this can be frustrating, especially when you want to quickly deliver materials to your client. Don't worry — the cause is usually simple and easy to fix. Below you'll find a list of things worth checking first.
Most Common Causes of Errors
Your web browser does a lot of work when uploading photos: it reads them from disk, processes them in RAM, resizes them, and only then sends them to the server. Here is what can disrupt this process:
Insufficient RAM: Too many open browser tabs or applications running in the background.
Files moved or renamed: Moving photos to a different folder, renaming the directory, or overwriting a file (e.g. re-exporting) during the upload.
Network issues: A temporary loss of a stable internet connection.
How to Fix Photo Upload Problems
If the progress bar is stuck or you see an error message, follow the steps below.
1. Check the Source Files on Your Computer
While uploading photos to Mafelo, the browser must have constant access to the original files on your disk.
⚠️Important: Make sure that while the upload is in progress:
You have not moved the photos to a different folder.
You have not renamed the folder containing the photos.
You have not renamed any of the individual files.
📣If you have performed any of these actions, cancel the upload and start it again, pointing to the new file location.
2. Free Up Your Computer's Memory (RAM)
Processing photos requires resources. If you have programs like Photoshop, Lightroom, and 20 browser tabs open, your computer may not have enough power to process the upload command.
Close unnecessary browser tabs.
Quit graphics applications: Apps such as Photoshop, Lightroom, or video editing software consume a lot of memory. Close them completely while uploading files.
3. Restart Your Device
This is the simplest and most effective solution. If the steps above did not help, try restarting your computer.
💡Tip: A restart clears the cache and closes processes that may be blocking the browser. In the vast majority of cases, this is enough to unblock the upload.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Can I close the browser tab while uploading?
No. The upload process happens "here and now". If you close the Mafelo tab before the upload is complete (before you see the success message), the process will be interrupted.
Does the file format matter?
Yes. Make sure you are uploading files in JPG or JPEG format. Mafelo automatically optimizes them for display in online galleries.
Is there a limit on the number of files that can be uploaded?
The Mafelo system does not impose a strict limit on the number of photos in a single upload. However, we recommend splitting very large orders (over 1,000 photos) into smaller batches. This reduces the load on your browser and the risk of RAM issues. Remember that you can always add more photos to the same gallery in a later step.
