How we calculate the upgrade credit

Move to a higher plan before your current one ends. See how we calculate the credit for the unused part of your plan.

Written by Michał Zalewski

You have an annual plan. You need more galleries before the plan ends. You do not have to wait. You can move to a higher plan now.

When you do this, we subtract a credit from your current plan from the price of the new plan. The credit is the value of the part of your current plan that you have not used yet. This article explains how we calculate it.

In short

  • Your new plan starts right away, when you pay. It is valid for a full year.

  • Your current plan ends when you pay.

  • We compare the unused galleries and the unused days of your current plan. We use the smaller proportion.

  • You see the credit before you pay, in the row "Credit from your current plan".

What is a higher plan?

A higher plan is a subscription plan with more galleries than your current plan. For example, 150 galleries instead of 100. Unlimited is the highest plan.

All plans are annual. If you buy the same plan or a lower plan, this is not an upgrade. You do not get a credit then. See When there is no credit.

How we calculate the credit, step by step

Step 1. The value of your current plan

This is the price you paid for your current plan, including VAT.

  • If you paid part of it with unused galleries from your bundles, we add that value too.

  • If you got your current plan through an earlier upgrade, we add that earlier credit too.

  • If you had a discount when you bought the plan, we use the price after the discount. This is what you really paid.

Step 2. The unused galleries

We count the galleries you have left in your current plan. We divide this number by the number of galleries in the plan.

Example: 10 galleries left in a 100-gallery plan, so 10 / 100 = 10%.

Step 3. The unused days

We count the days from today to the end date of your current plan. We divide this number by 365.

Example: 182 days left, so 182 / 365 = 49.9%.

Step 4. The smaller proportion

We compare the results from steps 2 and 3. We use the smaller one.

Example: 10% (10% of the galleries are left) is smaller than 49.9% (182 of 365 days are left), so we use 10%.

Step 5. The credit

We multiply the value of your current plan by the smaller proportion. We round the result down to the cent.

Example: 279 € × 10% = 27.90 €.

Why the smaller proportion?

A plan gives you a number of galleries for one year. So you use two things: the galleries and the time.

  • If you used most of your galleries, only a small part of the plan is left. This is true even when the plan ends a long time from now.

  • If most of the year has passed, only a small part of the plan is left too. This is true even when you still have many galleries.

The smaller proportion shows the part of the plan that you have really not used.

What you pay

Subscription price (after your discount, if you have one) minus Credit from your current plan

minus Value of unused galleries from your bundles (only as much as needed).

We subtract the credit from your current plan first. Only then do we use galleries from your bundles, and only as many as you need. The other galleries stay in your account.

Example 1: you used most of your galleries

You have the 100-gallery plan. You paid 279 € for it. You have 10 galleries and 182 days left. You want to move to the 150-gallery plan for 389 €.

Price of the 150-gallery plan

361.10 €

On the price page, you see:

Credit from your current plan: -27.90 € (unused: 10 of 100 galleries and 182 of 365 days — we use the smaller proportion)

Half of the year is left, but you already used 90% of the galleries. That is why the credit is 10% of the price, not 50%.

If you also have unused galleries from bundles worth, for example, 18 €, you pay:

389 € − 27.90 € − 18 € = 343.10 €.

Example 2: a smaller number of galleries is not always a smaller proportion

The same 100-gallery plan for 279 €. This time you have 60 galleries and 182 days left. You want to move to Unlimited for 729 €.

Proportion

Galleries

60 of 100 galleries

60%

Days

182 of 365 days

49.9% <- smaller, we use this value in the next steps

60 galleries is a smaller number than 182 days. But 60 of 100 galleries is 60%, and 182 of 365 days is only 49.9%. So the days give the smaller proportion.

Example 3: all galleries are used

Your 100-gallery plan has no galleries left, and the plan ends in 200 days. You cannot add a new gallery in this plan any more, so there is nothing to credit. The credit is 0 €.

You pay the full price of the new plan, and the new plan starts right away. In the list of plans, the higher plans then show the text "Starts today — your current plan is used up".

What happens on the timeline

Example 1 on a timeline. You bought the 100-gallery plan on 31 March 2026. You move to a higher plan on 30 September 2026.

  • The new plan does not wait for the old one to end. It starts when you pay.

  • The new plan has its full number of galleries and is valid for a full year.

  • The unused galleries from the old plan do not move to the new plan. You get their value as the credit.

Where to find it in the app

  1. Go to Settings → Payments and invoices.

  2. Click Buy a bundle.

  3. Scroll to Annual Subscription. Next to a higher plan, you see the Upgrade button and the text "Starts today — with credit from your current plan". Unlimited has its own box on the same page, with the same button.

  4. Click Upgrade. On the price page, check these rows:

    • Subscription price

    • Credit from your current plan, with the unused galleries and days

    • Value of unused galleries from your bundles (only if you have them)

    • Starts on (it shows "Today" and the date)

    • Subscription valid until

  5. Read the yellow notice below the table. It reminds you that your current plan ends when you pay.

  6. Check the To pay amount below the notice.

  7. Click Buy subscription (or Purchase Unlimited for a year!), choose how you want to pay, and pay.

After the payment:

  • the confirmation page says "Your new plan is already active. You can add new galleries now." If we have not received the payment confirmation yet, it says that we will add the subscription as soon as we receive it. Until then, your current plan works as before;

  • we send you an email with the line "Credit from your previous plan: …";

  • in Payments and invoices, the new plan has a name like "Subscription yearly - 150 galleries (upgrade from 100 galleries)";

  • we send you an invoice for the amount you paid.

FAQ

Why is my credit so small?

You probably used most of the galleries in your current plan. We use the smaller proportion: galleries or days. If you used 90 of 100 galleries, the credit is 10% of the price, even when half of the year is left. See Example 1.

I have more galleries left than days. Why do you use the days?

We compare proportions, not numbers. 60 of 100 galleries is 60%. 182 of 365 days is 49.9%. The days give the smaller proportion. See Example 2.

Do I get a refund for the rest of my current plan?

No. Your current plan ends when you pay. We count its value only in the credit. Any unused part of your current plan that the credit does not cover is not refunded.

What happens to the unused galleries from my current plan?

They end together with the plan. They do not move to the new plan. The new plan starts with its full number of galleries. Galleries from your bundles are different: we use only as many as you need for the payment, and the rest stay in your account.

What if my payment fails or I do not finish it?

Nothing changes. Your current plan keeps working, with the same galleries and days. When you try again, we calculate the credit again for that day.

Does the new plan end on the same date as my old plan?

No. The new plan starts on the day you pay and is valid for a full year from that day.
