In Mafelo, you can easily find the list of selected photos on Mac computers. By using the built-in Finder application, you can instantly filter the shots that the client has selected for final retouching, without needing to install any additional software.
Key benefits and use cases
No installation required: You use the built-in system search tool (Finder), with no need to download additional scripts.
Time savings: You eliminate errors from manual transcription and instantly filter selected files from hundreds of other shots in the folder.
Easy management: Once found and selected, files can be immediately copied to a separate folder (e.g. "For retouching") or dragged directly into your favorite photo editing application.
How to export selected photos to MacOS
To export photos, follow the steps below.
Important: File export works at the level of a single gallery (follow these steps in the view of a specific gallery) or a single order (if there are multiple orders in the gallery, simply open the details of the relevant order).
For the MacOS search to work correctly:
Files uploaded to the gallery in Mafelo must have exactly the same names as your original files (e.g. RAW) on your computer's disk. The file extensions themselves (e.g. .jpg, .cr2, .arw) do not matter.
Make sure your file names do not contain spaces, special language characters, or special symbols (e.g.
&,").
Tip: If files with unsupported characters in their names have already been uploaded to the gallery, the Finder search may not be able to locate them. In that case, a great alternative for managing files is Export to Mafelo Desktop, which handles such names without any issues.
Go to the Gallery in Mafelo from which you want to download the list of orders.
Open the Client orders tab. (If you want to export only one order out of several, click on that specific order to open its details).
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Export photos button.
From the drop-down menu, select the to MacOS option.
A new tab will open in your browser, containing a ready-made list of file names (joined by special characters). Copy all of the displayed content.
Open the Finder application on your Mac and navigate to the directory (folder) where all the original photos from this gallery are stored.
Paste the previously copied list of files directly into the search field (magnifying glass icon) in the upper right corner of the Finder window.
Critical step: Just below the search field, a bar with a "Search:" option will appear. Make sure you click and select your current folder name (e.g. "Gallery photos"), not the "This Mac" option. This ensures Finder searches only within the selected gallery.
After completing these steps, the Finder window will display only the photos selected by the client. You can now select them all (e.g. using the keyboard shortcut Cmd + A) and copy them to a separate folder or move them to your chosen photo editing application.
