How to set up mBank PayNow payments?

Learn how to connect your mBank PayNow account to Mafelo so you can conveniently and securely accept online payments from clients.

Written by Emilia Sowa

Enabling online payments allows your clients to quickly pay for galleries and bookings. Don't worry — setting up PayNow is straightforward, and after a few steps everything will work automatically!

Key benefits and use cases

  • Quick payment for bookings – Clients can immediately pay a deposit as confirmation of their booking using a fast bank transfer or BLIK.

  • Automatic bookkeeping – Mafelo will automatically record the payment for the gallery in the system and mark the order as paid, relieving you of the need to manually check your account.

  • No hidden fees – Mafelo does not charge any additional commission on transactions.

How to set up mBank PayNow

⚠️Important: The PayNow option is available exclusively for photographers with a registered business. If you run an unregistered business, you can use the Stripe, HotPay, or PayPal gateway instead.

Note: Before you start the PayNow integration, prepare your booking page according to the instructions: "How to prepare your page for online payments?" (this requires, among other things, adding your terms and conditions).

1. Registration and adding a store in the mBank panel

  1. Log in to your business account in mBank.

  2. Go to the finance tab, then in the PayNow submenu select Settings.

  3. The PayNow settings page will appear.

  4. Click the View button next to the Shops and POSes position.

  5. Click Add shop (if the list is empty).

  6. In the dialog that appears:

    1. In the shop domain field enter the address of your Mafelo booking website.

    2. In the Shop category field select Commercial Photography, Art and Graphics.

    3. In the Ecommerce platform field select Mafelo from the list.

2. Configuring the notification URL

Proceed to this step only after your store has been fully activated by the bank (you will receive a separate message from mBank about this). Once the store is active, follow the steps below to connect it to the Mafelo system.

  1. In the PayNow panel, expand your newly added store in the list by clicking the down arrow (next to the store name).

  2. Click EDIT next to the field named Transactions notification URL.

  3. Copy the link below and paste it into the open field:

    https://payments.mafelo.com/api/v1/gateways/paynow/updatestatus

Important: Setting this URL is absolutely critical! Without this step, Mafelo will not receive information from the bank and will not be able to automatically mark a gallery as paid.

3. Entering API keys into Mafelo

  1. In a new browser tab, log in to Mafelo and go to the Settings tab.

  2. Select the Online payments section.

  3. In the PayNow panel, click the Configure PayNow button.

  4. Switch back to the PayNow panel tab and click Copy next to the API key field.

  5. Paste the copied key into the appropriate field in the Mafelo configuration window.

  6. Repeat the same action for the Signature key field.

Done 💪 Your payments are now active, and clients will be able to pay via PayNow. Remember to enable this option for them in the gallery settings.

4. Activating card payments (Optional)

If you want to accept card payments, you also need to activate this payment channel with the payment provider.

  1. In the list of payment methods, find the option to enable card payments.

  2. Click the Activate button next to it, and then select which payment methods —other than cards — you want to enable (e.g., Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Click to Pay).

Frequently asked questions

Does Mafelo charge an additional commission for online payments via PayNow?

No, Mafelo does not charge any additional commission for processing online payments. Commission is charged solely by the payment operators (mBank/PayNow) — the amount is in line with the rate specified in your agreement with the bank.

Why did my client pay for the gallery, but it still shows as unpaid in Mafelo?

If a client has paid for the gallery but the status in Mafelo has not changed, the most common cause is a missing notification URL. To fix this, log in to the PayNow panel and make sure you have correctly pasted the link in the Transactions notification URL field:

https://payments.mafelo.com/api/v1/gateways/paynow/updatestatus

Who can use the PayNow gateway in Mafelo?

The mBank PayNow gateway is available exclusively to Mafelo users who have a registered business. If you run an unregistered business, select the Stripe, HotPay, or PayPal integration in your settings.
