How to test the online payment integration?

Make sure your clients can pay for sessions without any issues by running a quick test payment.

Written by Emilia Sowa

After successfully integrating your Mafelo account with your chosen payment provider, it is worth making sure that everything is working correctly. Don't worry, it's a very simple process! By running a test payment, you can be confident that the entire system is ready to accept payments from your clients.

Key benefits and use cases

  • Confidence in operation: You verify that a client will be able to complete the process without errors after making a booking.

  • Peace of mind: You avoid stressful situations where a client writes that "the payment link doesn't work".

How to run a test payment in Mafelo

To run a test payment and verify the integration, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Settings tab in the main menu, then select Online Payments.

  2. Find your payment provider on the list (the one you just configured).

  3. Click the Test the integration run the payment test button.

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to make a test payment.

Important: To test a payment through PayPal, you must use a buyer account different from the one on which you receive payments as a seller. PayPal does not allow you to send money to yourself, so a test payment using the same email address will result in an error.

Troubleshooting test results

After running a test payment, you may encounter one of two outcomes.

Test payment successful

If everything is set up correctly, after paying for the test order you will see a confirmation on the screen. Congratulations! Your system is ready and you can now safely accept payments for sessions from your clients.

An error message is displayed

If an error or a message saying the payment did not go through appeared after your payment attempt, don't panic. One of the steps during the initial setup was probably missed.

  • Review the guide for your payment provider in our knowledge base again and make sure you correctly copied all keys and tokens.

  • If everything seems correct but the error persists – contact us via chat. We'll be happy to help resolve the issue!

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Does the test payment charge real funds from my account?

To verify that the integration works correctly in a real environment, the test payment may require transferring a symbolic amount. These funds go directly to your account with the payment provider, so in reality you are paying yourself (except for PayPal, where you must use a different account).

Why was my PayPal payment rejected during the test?

The PayPal test payment is rejected because this provider's policy blocks the ability to send money to the same PayPal account from which the payment is being made. To successfully test the PayPal integration, you should use a friend's account or your own second, personal account with a different email address.
