How to send a welfare voucher - overview

A summary of the sending flow on Huggg Payouts - what to expect at each step, and links to detailed guides for each delivery method.

Sending a welfare voucher on Huggg Payouts follows the same flow regardless of the delivery method you choose. Here is a summary of each step.

Step 1 - Choose your voucher

From the home page, select the voucher category you want to send - for example Food, Energy and Water, or Cash. Then choose the specific type and amount.

Not sure which voucher to send? See: Choosing what to send for guidance on each category.

Step 2 - Customise your choices (optional)

For food and retail vouchers, you can restrict which brands the recipient can choose from. Click Customise choices in the top right and tick or untick brands as needed. If you leave this as-is, the recipient will see all available brands.

Step 3 - Add a message

Add a message to accompany the voucher - for example, any spending restrictions or guidance for the recipient. You can also change the From name so the voucher appears to come from your organisation rather than Huggg.

Step 4 - Choose your delivery method

Select how you would like to deliver the voucher link to your recipient:

  • Email, sent by Huggg - Huggg sends the voucher directly to your recipient's email address

  • SMS, sent by Huggg - Huggg sends the voucher directly to your recipient's mobile number

  • I'll share the voucher links myself - generate unique links that you distribute yourself via your own systems. You just need to select the quantity of links you need

  • Create printable letters - generate a PDF letter you can print and post or hand to recipients. You can add recipient details one at a time or upload them in bulk via CSV

For step-by-step instructions for each method, see the articles at the bottom.

Step 5 - Add recipient details

Enter your recipients' details. For email and SMS you can add them one by one or bulk upload a CSV. For printable letters, you will enter the recipient's address. For individual links, no recipient details are needed - just the quantity.

Step 6 - Set the expiry date

Choose when the voucher link will expire. Once the link expires, the recipient will no longer be able to claim their voucher. Set this carefully - recipients need enough time to open and use their voucher.

Step 7 - Schedule or send now

Choose to send immediately or schedule the send for a future date and time. This is useful for coordinating sends across a team or timing vouchers for a specific date.

Step 8 - Review and pay

Check your order summary, select a Reason code if applicable, and complete payment from your wallet balance or by card.
