Text on a Guest App page is formatted word by word. Select part of a sentence and style just that part, so the check-in time, the door code, or the wifi password stands out inside the paragraph it belongs to, rather than being broken out into a component of its own.
Three ways to apply formatting
Select, then format. Highlight any part of the text in a text component. A small toolbar appears above your selection with bold, italic, strikethrough, and link.

Or type it, the way you would in WhatsApp. Asterisks around a word make it bold, underscores make it italic, and tildes strike it through. The markers disappear as you type and the formatting takes their place.
Or use the keyboard. Cmd/Ctrl + B for bold, Cmd/Ctrl + I for italic.
Formatting combines. The same words can be bold and italic and struck through at once.
The page builder shows the formatting in place as you type, in the page's real font and colour, so what you see on the canvas is what the guest gets.

Linking from inside a paragraph
Select the words you want to turn into a link.
Choose the link button in the toolbar.
Type the address.
example.comis enough, thehttps://is filled in for you.
The same button removes a link when your cursor is inside one. Links on a page open in a new tab for the guest.
A link inside a paragraph is for pointing at a menu, a booking page, or a map. It does not replace an action button: routes between your own pages are still buttons you place yourself. See Create a Guest App page.
Personalisation tokens
Typing {{ brings up the token picker as before. A token can be formatted like any other text and still resolves to each guest's own details.
What this does not do
There is no underline. On the web an underline reads as a link, so strikethrough takes its place.
Bold is slightly heavier than the surrounding text rather than your typeface's own bold cut. It reads as bold on a page. Set side by side with your brand's bold, a designer will see the difference.
Each language is formatted separately. Page content is written per language, so formatting you apply to the English version does not carry across to the others.
Formatting applies to text components. Buttons, keys, profile, and map sections are styled by their own settings.
Typed HTML tags are not formatting. If a text component contains tags such as <strong>, the guest sees the tags as text. Delete them and apply the formatting with the toolbar instead.
Common questions
Can I underline a word?
No. Strikethrough takes the underline's place, because an underline on a web page reads as a link to most guests.
My bold does not look like the bold in my brand guidelines. Is something wrong?
No. Inline bold thickens the text you selected rather than switching to your typeface's own bold cut. It is legible as bold, and the difference is only visible in a close comparison. Your typeface itself is set in your Brand Library, see Setting your brand fonts.
I formatted the English version. Why is the German page still plain?
Each language is written and formatted separately. Apply the formatting again on each language you publish.
Do guests see the change straight away?
Formatting is page content, so it reaches guests when you save and publish, in the same way as any other edit to a live page. See Create a Guest App page.
