The Admin role reaches every section of Bookboost, and four things can only be done by an Admin: inviting operators, assigning roles, setting property access, and importing guests manually.
Because it has no boundaries, it is the one role worth being deliberate about. Most people who ask for Admin actually want two of the other roles. See Combining roles.
Who it is for
The person who owns the account. Usually a general manager, revenue manager, or whoever signed for Bookboost.
Whoever onboards and offboards staff. Adding a new starter and removing a leaver both need Admin.
Whoever configures integrations. Connecting a PMS, a door lock system, or a channel is Admin work.
At least one person per account, always. If nobody has Admin, nobody can invite anyone or fix access, and that becomes a support ticket.
What only an Admin can do
Invite operators and remove them.
Assign and change roles, including their own.
Set Accessible Apps, which is what actually decides who can see which property's guest data.
Import guests manually from a file.
Reach Settings, integrations, and channel configuration.
Create and scope teams, which decides how conversations route.
Configure the Inbox itself. Automations, quick replies, and signatures are all set in Inbox settings, which non-admins cannot open. Service operators can use the quick replies that already exist, but only an Admin can create or edit them.
How many Admins to have
More than one, fewer than most. One Admin is a single point of failure: when that person is on holiday and a new starter needs access, nobody can grant it. Two or three is usually right for a single property, and one per property plus a group-level owner works for a portfolio.
The test is not seniority, it is whether the person configures Bookboost. A hotel manager who only reads conversations and reports needs Service, not Admin.
What this does not do
It does not give access to every property. Admin is about sections, not properties. An Admin still only sees the properties on their own Accessible Apps list, though they can add themselves to any of them. See Accessible Apps.
It does not include Bookboost Insights. Insights is a separate add-on, so an Admin without it still cannot open it.
It does not let you read anyone's password. Passwords are not visible to Admins or to Bookboost. If one is lost, reset it.
It does not let you delete reservations. No role does. Reservations are removed in your PMS. See Can I delete a reservation in Bookboost?
What to do next
If you are about to give someone Admin, check first whether Combining roles covers what they actually need. If it does not, the steps are in Adding and managing operators.
