ATM cash - what you need to know before sending

Pre-send checklist, KYB requirements, fees and key constraints for ATM cash (PIN4Cash) vouchers - including the UK mobile requirement, £500 cap and how recipients collect privately at an ATM.

When to use ATM cash

ATM cash vouchers (also known as PIN4Cash) let your recipient withdraw cash from any of around 15,000 PIN4Cash ATMs across the UK. There is no over-the-counter interaction - your recipient receives a code on their mobile and uses it at the ATM to withdraw their cash. Vouchers can be issued for amounts up to £500.

ATM cash works well when your recipient values privacy or doesn't want to collect from a shop. It does have one hard requirement: your recipient needs a UK mobile number to receive the verification codes. See: Which cash voucher should I send? for a full comparison.

Before you start: KYB

ATM cash is a regulated product. You'll need to pass a Know-Your-Business (KYB) check for ATM Cash before you can send ATM cash vouchers. This is a separate KYB from PayPoint and Post Office.

If you haven't yet passed ATM Cash KYB, email us at disbursements@huggg.me to start the process. It typically takes 3-5 working days to process a KYB form.

Fees

There are extra fees associated with this product. For an up-to-date breakdown of issuance fees, cancellation fees and any other charges, email us at disbursements@huggg.me.

Pre-send checklist

Before you send an ATM cash voucher, confirm:

  • Your organisation has passed ATM Cash KYB

  • Your recipient has a UK mobile number - this is required to receive the verification codes

  • The amount is between £10 and £500, in multiples of £10

  • Your recipient has a PIN4Cash ATM they can access - they can find their nearest one at pin4cashatm.com/en/map

What to know

UK mobile required. The PIN4Cash system sends verification codes by SMS. If your recipient doesn't have a UK mobile, they cannot use this product - choose PayPoint cash, Post Office cash or OneLink Cash instead.

£10 to £500, in £10 increments. Amounts must be in multiples of £10.

No over-the-counter interaction. Your recipient receives their code on their phone and uses it directly at the ATM. This is often preferable for recipients who value privacy or don't want to ask for help at a till.

15,000 ATMs UK-wide. Your recipient can find their nearest PIN4Cash ATM at pin4cashatm.com/en/map. Note: PIN4Cash has its own locator separate from PayPoint's store locator.

Single use. The voucher can only be used once and will expire on the date shown.

Common issues and what to do

Issue

What to do

Recipient doesn't have a UK mobile

ATM cash will not work. Send PayPoint cash, Post Office cash or OneLink Cash instead.

Recipient hasn't received the verification code

Check the mobile number entered is correct, and ask them to check their inbox including spam/blocked SMS folders. If still not received, they should try again after a few minutes.

Recipient doesn't have a PIN4Cash ATM nearby

Consider PayPoint cash, Post Office cash or OneLink Cash instead. Recipients can check the PIN4Cash locator at pin4cashatm.com/en/map.

Recipient needs more than £500

Send a Post Office cash voucher instead (up to £4,000), or send multiple ATM cash vouchers.

How your recipient collects the cash

Recipients open their link, follow the steps to receive a verification code by SMS, and use the code at any PIN4Cash ATM to withdraw their cash. For full recipient instructions, see the recipient-side article: How do I use my ATM cash voucher?
