How do I use my prepaid card to pay my bill?

How to pay your energy, water or fuel provider using your digital prepaid Mastercard - online or by phone, including for direct debit accounts and off-grid energy suppliers.

Your digital prepaid card works like a normal Mastercard but can only be used to make payments to energy, water or fuel providers. It cannot be used for any other purpose.

Payments can be made online or by phone only - the card cannot be used in person at any physical location.

Paying online

Go to your provider's website and find their payment or top-up page. When prompted, select Mastercard and enter your card number, expiry date and CVV as shown on your digital card screen.

Paying by phone

Call your provider's customer services number and ask to make a card payment. Have your card number, expiry date and CVV ready to read out.

If you pay by direct debit

You can still use your card to make a one-off payment to your account, either online or by phone. Contact your provider to ask how to do this if you're unsure - most suppliers can take a one-off card payment even if you normally pay by direct debit.

Off-grid energy and fuel

Your card can also be used to pay off-grid energy and fuel providers - including suppliers of heating oil, LPG, and coal. See: Heating oil prepaid card - how to use it for specific tips on heating oil payments.
