The Spaces section

What each column means, which one reaches the guest, and why a room does not appear until a reservation has used it.

The Spaces section shows every room Bookboost knows about, read from your PMS. Its most useful column is Description, because that is the one you can put in a message: directions to the room, a door code note, whatever your PMS holds against that space.

A space only appears after a reservation has used it. Bookboost does not receive your full room list from the PMS. It learns about a room the first time a reservation arrives for it, so a room nobody has booked yet is not here.

The Spaces table

What each column means

  • State. The current housekeeping status, for example CLEAN or DIRTY.

  • Space Number. Usually the room number, as configured in your PMS.

  • Floor and Building. Where the room sits in the property.

  • Type. The category or class of the space.

  • Name and Description. Both come from the PMS. Description can be used as a token, which is how you send a guest room-specific detail or directions.

  • Property. Which of your properties the space belongs to.

There is a separate Direction token, but many properties prefer using Description, because what you see in this table is exactly what the guest will receive.

Making a space appear

If a room you expect is not listed, the usual reason is that nothing has been booked into it yet.

  1. Create a test reservation in your PMS for that room.

  2. Open the Spaces section in Bookboost and check that it now appears.

  3. If it still does not, contact support.

What this does not do

  • It is not a room manager. Everything here is read from your PMS. Rooms are created and edited there, not in Bookboost.

  • It does not show rooms nobody has booked. No reservation, no row.

  • State is a snapshot, not a live housekeeping feed. Treat it as what the PMS last told us, not as a real-time cleaning board.

  • It does not show every field your PMS holds. Bookboost stores more than it displays.

  • Editing the description here is not possible. If the directions you send guests are wrong, they are wrong in the PMS.

What to do next

To narrow a long list down, see Sorting and filtering spaces. The equivalent section for rate plans is covered in The Rate Plans section.
