Introduction

Reference tracking allows for precise monitoring of an article by assigning it a unique reference. This feature ensures the exact identification of an article.

To create a reference tracking, a product and an article must have been created beforehand. Please refer to the available documentation for more information on this topic.

1 Creating a Reference Tracking

1.1 Creating a Reference Tracking

Go to the page of your article. At the bottom of the page, click on "Add Reference Tracking". You will then be redirected to the reference tracking creation page.

1.2 Access Management

  • 👥 If no user is specified, all users will have access to the article.

  • 🔑 If users are specified, only these users will have access to the tracked article.

  • This functionality allows limiting access to certain users if necessary.

2. Types of Reference Tracking

There are three types of reference tracking:

2.1 ❌ No Tracking

  • The article has a reference, but no control or blocking date is defined.

2.2 🔍 Controlled Reference

  • A control date is set for the article.

  • This can be useful for articles that require periodic checks (e.g., a torque wrench).

2.3 ⏳ Expired Reference

  • An expiration date is set, after which the article should no longer be used.

3. Configuring Blocking Tracking

Reference tracking of type "controlled reference" and "expired reference" can be set as blocking.

Once the control or expiration date is reached, the reference can no longer be used. To activate this option, check the box "Block the reference" when creating the tracking.

Important: If your product was already present in your XTower configuration before adding reference tracking, you must update the zone as shown in the example below:

Then, remember to select your reference tracking.

🎯 Conclusion

Reference tracking is an essential tool for ensuring traceability and proper article management. By correctly configuring the different types of tracking and access restrictions, better control and optimized resource utilization can be ensured.
