Understanding the Free Version of Mercell Bidding

This guide outlines what features are available to you, what is restricted, and how you can upgrade your account to unlock full bidding capabilities.

If you are using Mercell Bidding without an active subscription, you have access to our basic tender discovery functionality.

What You Can Do with a Free Account

You can explore a variety of tender opportunities by visiting app.mercell.com/search. While searching, you can utilise the following features:

  • Search Filters: Narrow down your opportunities by location or choose to view inactive tenders.

  • Sorting Options: Organize your search results by submission deadline or publication date.

  • Basic Tender Details: Select an opportunity to view essential tender information and main buyer details.

  • Important Dates: View critical timelines, including the publication date and the final submission deadline.

Account Limitations on the tender overview page

The free version is designed for basic discovery. Without a paid subscription, users cannot access the following features:

  • Contact Information: Direct buyer contact details are hidden.

  • AI Insights: Advanced AI-driven insights and summaries are restricted.

Tender invitations and submitting a bid for free

All registrations are free of charge, and you do not need to pay for a user account to express interest in a tender, whether it is public or invitation-based.

If the tender has been published directly through the Mercell Tendering and Bidding platform, or if you have received an invitation through the platform, you can submit your expression of interest online without any payable obligations. You only need to create and use a registered account.

However, if the tender was originally published through a different external portal and you discovered it via our public tender page, access to the external tender source link may require a subscription license.

This also depends on the market requirements, as some external tenders are publicly accessible without a paid license, while others are not. In general, to ensure you always have access to view a full tender and submit a bid, a paid subscription is recommended.

Do I need to register to access documents?

Access to tender documents depends on the specific tender setup and the requirements of the market where the tender is published. If the contracting authority has made the tender documents publicly available without requiring an expression of interest, you can access them directly through the public tender search page at https://app.mercell.com/search without logging in.

Here’s a simple breakdown:

  • Public tenders: Basic tender information is generally available without logging in. However, access to full tender details, documents, or external procurement systems may require account registration and, in some cases, a relevant subscription package. Please note that in certain markets, some tender types remain fully public regardless of subscription status.

  • Advance access to documents: If you want to view tender documents before submitting an expression of interest, a subscription is typically required.

  • Expression of interest: In many cases, registering an account and submitting an expression of interest is enough to unlock the documents without needing a subscription.

  • Direct invitations: If you have been invited directly by the buyer, you must still register an account and submit an expression of interest to access the tender documents. However, a paid subscription is not required to view the full tender details in this scenario.

  • If there are no documents showing or some are missing from the documents card, make sure to click on Accept or Go to Source link to see more info.

If you are having trouble opening the attached documents, there could be multiple reasons why:

  • You don't have a subscription package that includes access to these documents

  • You haven't expressed interest or accepted the invite
