Submitting a bid: Where to start?

This quick guide explains how to begin the bidding process

Summary: Once you have reviewed a business opportunity and decided to submit a bid, the opportunity overview is your starting point. This quick guide explains how to access the tender to begin the bidding process, ask clarification questions, and submit your final proposal.

What is the 'Go to source' button?

Mercell gathers business opportunities from various sources depending on the market you operate in. Because the original publishing location of a tender can vary, we include a Go to source button on the opportunity overview.

What is "Act on this opportunity" button?

Similar to "Go to source," this button allows you to submit your bid. However, it indicates the tender is hosted directly on Mercell, meaning you won't be redirected to an external site to complete your submission.

Where will the button take you?

Depending on how the contracting authority published the tender, the button will direct you to one of two places:

  • External Tender Portals (Go to source): Tenders are often published on national or local notification databases. If the button takes you to an external site, you will notice the website URL change.

Please note: If you require assistance submitting a bid on a third-party site, you will need to use their dedicated support channels.

  • Directed to Sourcing Core (Accept / Decline)

Sourcing Core is a Mercell platform available in Sweden only, it is separate to Mercell Tendering and Bidding. Submitting a bid will take place in Sourcing Core.

  • Directed within Mercell Bidding (Act on this opportunity): Many tenders are published directly within Mercell's platform (Buyers can use Mercell Tendering to publish tenders to suppliers viewing on Mercell Bidding). You will know you are still on the Mercell platform because the page design and branding will remain consistent. If you are directed here, you can follow our step-by-step guide on how to submit a bid.

Remaining in Mercell Bidding as the central workspace for that specific tender, where you can:

  • Submit clarification questions to the contracting authority.

  • Complete ESPD (European Single Procurement Document) requests.

  • Manage requirements for framework agreements and digital purchasing systems.

  • Submit your final bid.
