Lease period of a house
The rental period of your home depends on whether you have a temporary house agreement or a rental agreement for an indefinite period. To be sure, you will need to take a look at your rental agreement, or request it from LIV Residential if you cannot find it.
Rental agreement for a home for an indefinite period
In the case of a rental agreement for an indefinite period, you have a minimum rental period of 12 months after the commencement date of your rental agreement. Neither the tenant nor the landlord can cancel this during these 12 months.
After these 12 months, you as a tenant can cancel the rent any month. Pay close attention to the conditions regarding terminating a rental agreement.
Rental agreement for a home for a certain period of time
Do you have a temporary rental agreement for 1 or 2 years? Then you can cancel the rental agreement as a tenant at any month. Read your rental agreement carefully to ensure that you actually have a temporary rental agreement.
LIV Residential can only terminate this rental agreement on the end date of the 1 or 2 year period for which the temporary rental agreement applies. If you do not hear from LIV Residential, the rental agreement will become a rental agreement for an indefinite period after this end date.
Lease period of a parking space / garage
The rental period for a parking space or garage depends on how it has been agreed.
There are basically 2 options:
The parking space / garage is rented together with a house
This means: the parking space / garage and the house are on the same rental agreement. This means that the parking space or garage box is part of the rented property and can only be canceled together with the home.
The parking space / garage box is rented separately
This means that the parking space / garage is agreed on a separate rental agreement. The conditions stated in the rental agreement apply. Parking spaces and garages can usually be canceled on a monthly basis.
