How does PayPoint work? (Receiving vouchers)

How to use your PayPoint energy voucher to top up your gas or electricity meter - including where to go, what to bring, and how long you have to use it.

Your PayPoint voucher lets you top up your gas or electricity prepayment meter at any PayPoint location in the UK. There are around 28,000 PayPoint outlets nationwide - in convenience stores, newsagents and supermarkets.

To find your nearest PayPoint, visit paypoint.com/store-locator.

Before you go

Make sure you have the following with you:

  • Your voucher - open it on your phone or print the page to take with you

  • Your gas card, electricity key, or smart meter card - the cashier will need this to apply the credit

At the PayPoint location

  1. Hand your voucher to the cashier - they will scan the barcode or key in the voucher number

  2. The cashier will top up your energy device to the value of the voucher

  3. You will receive a receipt confirming the transaction

Important - expiry

Your PayPoint voucher is valid for 30 days from the date you claim it. If you do not use it within this time, the voucher will be cancelled and the funds returned to the organisation that sent it. You would then need to contact them to request a new one.

PayPoint energy vouchers are also capped at £49. If you have been sent a larger amount, your sender may have issued more than one voucher to cover the total.
