Resend a campaign to your guest

How to send a campaign again to a guest it failed for, and how to cancel messages that are still queued.

When a campaign fails for one guest, you do not have to rebuild anything or wait for the trigger to come round again. The Schedules tab on the campaign report lets you send that one message again, on its own.

A resend goes out immediately. There is no scheduling and no second confirmation step, so treat the button as the send itself.

Before you start

  • Fix the cause first. A resend uses the guest profile as it stands now, so if the email address is still wrong, the resend will fail the same way. Correct the contact details on the profile, then resend.

  • Check what the failure actually was. The reason is written in the Status column on the Schedules tab:

    • Unable to reach guest means the contact details did not work. Correct the email address or phone number on the profile, then resend.

    • Campaign template not found means there was no template for the channel and language this guest resolved to. Add the missing content to the campaign, then resend.

    • Already sent to another guest profile with the same contact and context means the guest was skipped deliberately, because a profile sharing their contact details already received this campaign that day. Resending will deliver a message they have, in effect, already had. Usually the right answer here is to merge the duplicate profiles, not to resend.

  • Check the timing suits the guest. Because the resend is immediate, a pre-arrival message resent a week late will read oddly even though it delivers.

Resending to one guest

  1. Go to Campaigns, open the three-dot menu on the campaign.

  2. Choose View Report.

    Click on View Report

  3. Select the Schedules tab.

    Click on Schedules

  4. Find the guest. The quickest way is the filter icon above the table on the right: search by Booking reference, Email, Phone, or the guest's name.

  5. Check the Status column reads Failed, and read the reason next to it.

  6. Click Resend at the end of that row. The message goes out straight away.

Resend only appears on rows that did not send. A row already marked Sent cannot be sent again from here. Build a Broadcast to that guest instead if you genuinely need to send the same message twice.

Resending to several guests

  1. On the Schedules tab, tick the checkbox on each row you want.

  2. Open the three-dot menu at the top-right of the table.

  3. Choose Resend all selected. Every ticked message goes out immediately.

Filtering by Status: Failed first makes this straightforward, because you get every failure on the campaign in one list and can work through them together. Do check the failure reasons before you select the lot, though. Failures caused by First per day are the system protecting guests from duplicates, and resending them in bulk sends real duplicates.

Cancelling messages instead

The same three-dot menu has Cancel all selected, which stops the ticked messages from going out. Use it on rows still marked Scheduled.

This is the counterpart to switching a campaign off. Turning a Journey off stops new messages being queued, but messages already in the queue still send. To make sure nothing further reaches guests, turn the campaign off and then cancel the remaining Scheduled rows here. See Stop a Journey from sending.

Getting help

Open Talk to Us in the left menu of the platform, or email support@bookboost.io. Tell us the campaign name and the booking reference, and what the Status column said before you resent.
