Creating custom assets

Create named image and video slots in your Brand Library so each property can hold its own file under the same name, and your guest app shows the right one automatically.

A custom asset is a named slot for an image or a video. You create the slot once, then each property fills it with its own file. A slot called lobby holds a different photograph for every hotel, and your guest app shows the right one for the property the guest is actually staying at.

This is what lets you build one page, or one campaign, instead of duplicating it per property.

Before you start

  • You are an admin. Other operators cannot open or edit the Brand Library.

  • Start in your Default kit. Create the slot there first, then give each property its own file. See Setting up your Brand Library for how the Default kit and property kits relate.

  • You have your images or videos ready to upload.

How to create a custom asset

  1. Click Settings in the left menu, then Brand library.

  2. Open your Default kit, then Custom assets.

Open Custom assets from the panel on the left

  3. Click Add custom asset.

    Click Add custom asset

  4. Type a name that describes what the slot is for, such as hero_image or lobby.

Type a lowercase name for the slot

  5. Choose Image or Video.

    Click Create

  7. Upload the file for this slot. To change it later, click Replace.

Your changes save automatically. There is no Save button to press.

Naming your assets

The name is what links the same slot across every property, so it is worth getting right first time.

  • Use lowercase letters. Capitals are not accepted.

  • Avoid spaces. A space is converted to an underscore when you save, so Hero Image is not what you end up with.

  • Keep it short and descriptive. The name has to make sense to whoever is building a campaign months from now.

Giving each property its own file

Once the slot exists in your Default kit, repeat the upload for each property that needs a different file.

  1. Go back to Brand library and open that property's brand kit.

  2. Open Custom assets and find the same named slot.

  3. Upload the property's own file.

Any property you skip keeps using the file from the Default kit, so the slot is never empty.

Known limitations

  • Video assets are for guest app pages. The email builder's image picker offers images only, so a video slot will not appear there.

  • Names are normalised on save. Capitals are rejected and spaces become underscores.

  • The email builder reads your assets when you open it. If someone adds an asset while you have a campaign open, close the editor and reopen it to see the new item.

Common questions

Why should I create the slot in the Default kit first?
The name is what links the slot across properties. Creating it once at Default level and then overriding per property is what lets a single campaign or page resolve to each property's own file.

What happens if a property has no file for a slot?
It uses the file from your Default kit.

I named an asset "Hero Image" and it saved as something else. Why?
Asset names do not accept capitals, and spaces are converted to underscores. Name new assets in lowercase to avoid surprises.

Can I use a custom asset in an email campaign?
Yes, for images. In the email builder's image upload window, click Select from brand assets. See Use your brand colors and assets in the email builder.

Can I insert a brand video into an email?
No. Video slots are for guest app pages. Only image assets appear in the email builder.

How do I change a file later?
Open the asset and click Replace. The name stays the same, so anything already pointing at that slot picks up the new file.
