πŸ” Understanding Operator Roles in Bookboost

Introduction

In Bookboost, every team member is assigned a role that determines which sections and features they can access within the platform. Roles are designed to ensure that each operator has exactly the tools they need to do their job β€” no more, no less. This article gives an overview of all available roles and how they work.

Main Concept: What Are Roles?

Roles are permission levels assigned to operators in Bookboost. Each role unlocks a specific set of sections and features. Assigning the right role to each team member helps keep the platform organised, secure, and easy to navigate for everyone.

There are currently 3 roles available in Bookboost:

  • πŸ›ŽοΈ Service

  • πŸ“£ Marketing

  • πŸ‘‘ Admin

Role Overview

πŸ›ŽοΈ Service

Designed for guest-facing staff. Service operators can access the Inbox, Tasks, Guests, Reservations, and Digital Reception. They cannot access Campaigns or manually import guests.

πŸ“£ Marketing

Designed for marketing-focused staff. Marketing operators can access Campaigns, Profiles, Reservations, and Digital Reception. They cannot access the Inbox or manually import guests.

πŸ‘‘ Admin

The most powerful role β€” Admins have full access to every section in Bookboost. Only Admins can import guests manually, manage users, and configure platform-wide settings.

Combining Roles

Operators can be assigned more than one role at the same time. This is useful when a team member needs access to sections from different roles β€” for example, an operator who needs both the Inbox (Service) and Campaigns (Marketing) can simply be assigned both roles, without needing full Admin access.

Role combinations are additive β€” there are no conflicts, and the operator gains access to the combined sections of all assigned roles.

Configuration and Setup

To assign a role to an operator (you need to be an Admin to do this):

  1. Go to Settings in the left-hand menu.

  2. Navigate to Operators.

  3. Select the operator you want to configure, or click + Add new.

  4. Under Add role, select the desired role from the dropdown.

  5. To add multiple roles, click Add role again and select an additional role.

  6. Click Save to confirm.

Conclusion

Roles in Bookboost make it easy to manage your team's access in a structured and secure way. Whether you need a focused role for a specific job function or a combination of roles for broader responsibilities, the role system gives you full flexibility. Always assign the minimum access needed β€” and only use Admin when truly necessary. βœ…
