Notifications are set per Operator, so what you receive is your choice and nobody else's. There are three ways to be told about something and seven events you can be told about, and you switch each combination on or off independently.
Everything below lives under Messaging > Inbox Settings > Notifications.
Start by subscribing
Under Subscriptions you will find three rows — Push Notifications, In-app Notifications and Email Notifications — each showing whether you are subscribed, with a Subscribe button.
This comes first. The per-event switches further down do nothing for a channel you have not subscribed to. If you have turned events on and nothing is arriving, check here before anything else.
A newly subscribed channel starts with every event off. Subscribing opens the channel; it does not opt you in to anything. Once you have subscribed, go down to the event switches and turn on what you actually want.
The three delivery channels
Push. Browser alerts that reach you even when the Bookboost tab is not in front of you.
In-app. Alerts shown while you have the Bookboost tab open.
Email. Sent to your email inbox.
Notification sound
At the top of the page, a single dropdown with three options.
Off. Notifications arrive silently.
Once. One sound per notification.
Repeating. The sound keeps going until the notification is dealt with. Useful at a front desk where a missed message matters more than the noise, and the first thing to change if the noise is the problem.
Setting up the events
Under Notifications settings there are three tabs: Push notifications, Email notifications and In-app notifications.
Subscribe to the channels you want, as above.
Open a tab: Push, Email or In-app.
Switch each event on or off for that channel.
Repeat for the other two tabs.
The three tabs are completely independent. Each carries the same seven events, and switching an event on for Push does nothing to Email or In-app. That is what makes it useful: you can have Push for a new message and Email for nothing at all, rather than one blunt setting for everything.
The seven events
Tickets
Incoming Message. A new message is received.
Mentioned. A colleague @mentions you in an internal comment. See Use internal comments and @mentions in a conversation. If colleagues are mentioning you and you are hearing nothing, this is the switch.
Ticket Assigned to Me. A colleague assigns a ticket to you.
Ticket Assigned to Team. A colleague assigns a ticket to one of your teams.
Ticket Snoozed Ends. A ticket you previously snoozed is no longer snoozed.
Ticket Inactivity. Tickets that require your attention.
Teams
New team. A new team has been created in the platform.
If you are getting too many
Ticket Assigned to Team is the usual culprit. It fires for every team you belong to, so if you are in a broad or organisation-wide team you will hear about tickets from properties you do not work in. Turning that one event off, rather than muting everything, usually fixes it.
See Why am I receiving notifications for other properties? for the underlying cause and the other ways to solve it.
If the volume is right but the noise is not, set Notification sound to Once or Off rather than unsubscribing.
What this does not do
Per Operator only. An admin cannot set notification preferences for someone else, or enforce them across a team.
Subscribing is not the same as opting in. A channel you have just subscribed to has every event switched off until you turn them on.
Push needs browser permission. If push notifications never arrive, check that your browser has allowed them for Bookboost.
No quiet hours. There is no schedule for switching notifications off outside your shift; you subscribe or you do not.
What to do next
There is a one-minute video on notifications, and Inbox settings covers the rest of the settings panel.
