Get notified when a WhatsApp template is rejected

Turn on the per-operator rejection notification so a blocked template does not sit unnoticed.

A rejected template stops a campaign, and nothing announces it. If the person who built the campaign is off that week, the rejection sits there until somebody happens to open the WhatsApp Templates window.

Turning on the Whatsapp Template Rejected notification closes that gap. It takes a minute, it is set per operator, and it is off until you turn it on.

Turning it on

  1. Go to Operator Settings.

  2. Find Whatsapp Template Rejected in your notification Events list.

  3. Turn on Email, Push, or both.

How it behaves

  • Everyone who opted in is notified, not only the campaign creator. This is the point of it. A rejection reaches whoever is actually at work, rather than whoever happened to build the campaign.

  • Your channel preferences are respected. You are notified only through the channels you turned on. If notifications are off altogether, or both channels are off for this event, nothing arrives.

  • One notification per rejection reason. A template rejected for two reasons at once produces two notifications. A template already marked as rejected does not notify you again.

  • The status is visible without the notification too. The template shows as Rejected in Bookboost, matching what WhatsApp Manager shows.

What this does not do

  • It is off by default, for everyone. New operators start with it off, so a new starter is not covered by the fact that their colleagues turned it on.

  • It does not cover timeout rejections. If Meta takes no action on a template for a month, it is rejected by timeout and no notification is sent. Those you find only by looking.

  • It does not cover NOT SENT. A template blocked before review was never rejected, so nothing fires. See The NOT SENT status on a WhatsApp template.

  • It does not include the reason. The notification links you to the campaign. Meta's specific rejection reason is in the campaign or in WhatsApp Manager.

  • It is not an account-wide setting. An admin cannot turn it on for the team, so it is worth saying out loud in a team meeting rather than assuming it is covered.

What to do next

When a rejection does arrive, see Get a WhatsApp template approved for what to change and how to resubmit.
