Your team will only pick up guest messages quickly if the phone in their pocket tells them a message arrived. Bookboost runs as a web app, so mobile alerts come through your mobile browser rather than through a native app, and they have to be switched on once per device.
This means you must allow notifications for platform.bookboost.io in your mobile browser. Until you do, no notifications reach the device. These steps assume Chrome, which is the browser we recommend on Android.
Turning on notifications on Android
Open Settings on your phone.
Go to Apps & notifications. Depending on your Android version this may be called Apps or Application Manager.
Find Chrome in the list of apps. If it is not visible, tap See all apps first.
Tap Notifications.
Look for platform.bookboost.io in the list of sites. If it is not there, visit the site in Chrome first and accept the notification prompt, then come back.
Tap platform.bookboost.io and switch the toggle to Allow.
Checking it worked
Send a test message into your Unified Inbox. If the setup is correct, a notification appears on the device within a few seconds. If it arrives late rather than not at all, see Fixing delayed notifications on Android.
On iPhone and iPad
Bookboost does not deliver push notifications to iPhone or iPad today, in Safari or in Chrome. If your team works on iOS, use one of the approaches below instead.
Email notifications. Switch on email notifications for new messages under Settings, then Operators, then Notifications.
Checking manually. Open your Unified Inbox in any browser at the points in the day when guest messages matter most, such as around check-in.
A scheduled shortcut. iOS can open Bookboost for you at set times. It is not a notification, but it keeps the inbox in front of whoever is on shift. Steps are below.
Opening Bookboost automatically on iOS
This assumes an iPhone running iOS 14 or later, where the Shortcuts app is installed by default.
Open the Shortcuts app. Swipe down on the home screen and search for it if you cannot see it.
Tap + in the top-right corner to create a new shortcut.
Tap Add Action, search for Open App, and select it.
Tap Choose next to App and select the browser you use for Bookboost.
Tap + to add another action, search for URL, and enter https://platform.bookboost.io.
Tap + again, search for Open URLs, and add it below the URL action.
Tap the settings icon next to the shortcut name and give it a name, for example Open Bookboost.
Go back to the main Shortcuts screen and open the Automation tab. Tap + to create a new automation.
Choose Time of Day and set when it should run and how often it should repeat. Tap Next.
Tap Add Action, search for Run Shortcut, and select your Open Bookboost shortcut. Tap Next.
Turn off Ask Before Running so the automation runs on its own, then tap Done.
