In this guide, we will explain how to enable a mobile hotspot.
Sharing your phone’s internet connection can be useful for connecting your machine to the internet if the SIM card or network cable is not functioning. There are two ways to proceed, with the first method being the simplest.
Please note: The following operations can only be performed if your STM user role is set to Replenisher, Expert Replenisher, or Supervisor.
I. Disconnecting the Windows Session
To begin, scan your badge on the machine to log in. Then, press the "Disconnect Windows Session" button at the bottom, as shown below.
Once this button is clicked, the Windows session will log out. You will then be redirected to the home screen.
Press the connection button at the bottom right, as highlighted below, to open the network settings.
This menu will display nearby devices that provide internet access.
Make sure that the mobile hotspot is enabled on your phone before proceeding.
Select your device and click "Se connecter", as shown in the example below.
Note: You will be prompted to enter a password. This is the password set in your phone’s hotspot settings.
Once the machine is connected to your mobile hotspot, click outside the window to close it.
You will then return to the Windows "Client" session home screen.
To restart the STM, enter the password "client", then confirm. The STM will launch, and you will be redirected to the machine's home screen.
II. Using Task Manager
To perform this operation, you will need the keyboard provided in your XTower.
Open the left door of your machine using the provided keys.
Retrieve the keyboard, which is located on the bottom left of the machine.
Open the right door of the machine using the Resistorx screwdriver found in the toolkit provided with the XTower.
Unscrew the bottom screw on the door, followed by the top screw.
You can now open the right door and access the PC behind the screen.
Connect the keyboard to the USB port of the PC, as shown in the photo below.
The keyboard is now connected to the PC and ready for use.
Using the keyboard, while on the home screen of your machine (no need to scan your badge), press Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
This shortcut will open the Task Manager on the PC.
Next, click on "Exécuter une nouvelle tâche", as shown in the example below.
Once this button is clicked, select "explorer" from the dropdown list and confirm, as shown in the example below.
After this, the Windows taskbar will appear at the bottom of your screen.
This will allow you to connect to the network, as shown in the example below, by clicking on the icon highlighted in red at the bottom right.
Once connected, close the Task Manager (the first window we opened), then click on the Windows logo at the bottom left (blue squares).
This will open the menu shown below. Once on this page, click on "Client" at the bottom left.
Next, click on "Se déconnecter", as shown below. The Windows session will then log out.
You will now be on the Windows session home screen shown below.
Enter the password "client" in the designated field and press Enter on your keyboard.
The STM will then restart, and the machine will be successfully connected to your mobile hotspot, ready for use.
