Ensuring your organisation's details are accurate is an important part of managing your account.
You can view your current details at any time by navigating to the General and Billing tabs within Organisation Management.
Entering Your Registration Details
When registering or updating your organisation's profile, the system relies on your location to verify your business details.
Important: You must select your Country before entering your company registration number. Because formats vary globally, the system cannot validate your registration number until it knows which country's rules to apply.
Registration Number Formats by Country
To prevent billing or contract errors, the app checks that your registration number matches the official format for your selected country.
Note: You do not need to worry about spaces, dashes, or hyphens when typing. The system will automatically ignore them during validation.
Country | Required Format | Example |
United Kingdom (UK) | Exactly 8 characters. Must start with 0, 1, SC, OC, SO, NI, or NC. | 01234567, SC123456 |
Norway (NO) | Exactly 9 digits. The first digit must be 8 or 9. | 823 456 789 |
Denmark (DK) | Exactly 8 digits. | 12345678 |
Finland (FI) | Exactly 8 digits. | 12345678 |
Netherlands (NL) | Exactly 8 digits. | 12345678 |
For Sweden (SE), Germany (DE), France (FR), and Spain (ES): Standard national formatting rules apply. The system will automatically check your entry against the respective national registry standards.
For All Other Countries:
If your country is not listed above, your registration number must simply meet the following global security criteria:
It cannot start with a plus sign (+).
It must be at least 5 characters long.
It cannot consist of only one or two repeating digits (e.g., 11111 or 12121 will not be accepted).
It cannot be a simple ascending or descending sequence (e.g., 123456789 or 987654321).
Getting an error message?
If an incorrect format is entered, an error message will appear exactly where you are typing. This message will tell you the exact format required for your chosen country so you can easily correct it.
What If I Don't Have a Company Registration Number?
If you operate as a sole trader or simply do not have a registered company number, you can indicate this during the initial sign-up process.
If you opt out of providing a registration number, by selecting I don’t have a registration number:
Your Organisation Name will be automatically filled using your First and Last name.
The Company registration number field will be disabled (greyed out) in both your General and Billing tabs.
Why is My Registration Number Field Greyed Out?
To protect sensitive billing and contract information, there are times when you will not be able to edit your registration details directly.
The registration number and country fields will be greyed out if you already have an active subscription contract linked to the current registration number.
How to update restricted details:
If you need to correct a mistake or update your company registration number, please contact you Organisation Administrator or Mercell Support.
They have the secure access required to safely update these fields on your behalf at any time. When making these changes, the Mercell support team will ask you to explicitly confirm the new sensitive information to ensure your account remains secure.
