Nuisance from Overgrowth, what to do?

Updated this week

What to do if you are experiencing nuisance caused by overgrowth?

When shrubs, trees, or other plants grow too far, this can cause problems, for example by blocking paths or by branches and leaves getting in the way.

Follow these steps:

1. Your own responsibility

  • Regularly maintain your own garden or outdoor space: remove weeds, trim back overhanging branches, and keep paths clear.

  • This is usually part of the rental agreement and helps to ensure a tidy and safe living environment.

2. Talk to your neighbors first

  • Do you notice that overgrowth from a neighboring garden is causing inconvenience?

  • Speak to the tenant in a friendly way and explain the nuisance you are experiencing.

  • In many cases, people are not aware of the situation and a simple conversation is enough.

3. If the nuisance continues

  • If you cannot resolve the issue together or if the nuisance continues despite agreements:

  • Report the situation via the LIV app or by email. If possible, include photos so that we can properly assess the situation.

4. Assessment and follow-up

  • LIV Residential will review the report and, if necessary, contact the tenant involved.

  • In exceptional cases, a professional gardener or the municipality may be called in.
