Meter reading

How do I submit the gas, water and electricity readings?

Updated this week

Why they matter

Submitting accurate meter readings helps avoid incorrect or estimated utility bills. Meters belong to the utility companies, not LIV Residential.

How to submit your readings

The process depends on your type of supply:

1. Individual meters (gas, electricity, water)

  • Gas & electricity: Submit readings directly to your energy supplier (e.g. Vattenfall, Eneco, Essent).
Smart meters usually send readings automatically.

  • Water: Report your reading to the local water company via their website or portal.

2. District or block heating

  • No individual gas meter. Heating is supplied centrally and measured by a heat meter.

  • Record or photograph the reading and share it with your heating provider or LIV Residential.

3. Shared meters (e.g. studio buildings)

  • Your property manager or janitor may collect the readings and handle the cost allocation.

  • Always take photos of your readings when moving in or out.

Moving in or out

  • Move-in: Record or photograph all current meter readings on the day you receive the keys.

  • Move-out: Do the same on your last day and keep the photos as proof.
These readings ensure an accurate final utility statement.

Suspect a faulty meter?

Contact your utility provider (water, energy, or heating) directly if you think a meter isn’t working properly.
