I have a query about crypto – who can help?

Crypto accounts at IG Markets Singapore are managed by Independent Reserve. For any crypto-related queries, you'll need to contact Independent Reserve directly.

There are two ways to do this from within the app:

  • Account page: Go to your Account > scroll to Support > tap Contact IR

  • Help & FAQs: Go to Help & FAQs > Crypto (Independent Reserve) > open a relevant article > tap Get IR Support

Both options are only visible if you have an active crypto account.

Q1. What currencies can I trade against in Singapore?

Singapore clients can trade cryptocurrencies against SGD and USD.

Q2. What types of orders can I place?

  • Market orders – execute instantly at the current best available price

  • Limit orders – set your desired price; the order remains open and will only be filled at your desired price or better

  • Stop-limit orders – The Stop Price acts as a trigger and activates the limit order. Once this happens, the limit order will be placed on the order book and remain until it is filled or cancelled.

Q3. What are the trading fees?

Independent Reserve uses a volume-based tiered fee structure. Fees start at 0.5% and decrease significantly at higher trading volumes, going as low as 0.02% for high-volume traders. The full fee schedule is published on the Independent Reserve website.

Q4. What is Recurring Buy?

Recurring Buy automatically invests in cryptocurrency on a schedule you choose. You can set it to invest a fixed amount – for example, SGD 20 of Bitcoin every week. It is a simple and convenient way to build your crypto portfolio over time using a dollar-cost averaging (DCA) strategy.

Please note that Recurring Buy is currently only available in SGD.

How do I set up a Recurring Buy?

Setting up a Recurring Buy is quick and straightforward. Here's how:

  • Choose your crypto – select the cryptocurrency you would like to invest in, for example Bitcoin (BTC), and tap Recurring Buy.

  • Set your amount – decide how much you would like to invest regularly, for example SGD 20.

  • Choose your frequency – select a schedule that works for you: daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly, or on the last day of the month.

  • Review and confirm – check your details and place your order. Your Recurring Buy will then run automatically as long as your account has sufficient funds.

Q5. Are there additional fees for Recurring Buy?

No. There are no additional fees for using Recurring Buy. You will only be charged the standard brokerage fee.

Q6. What happens if my account balance is insufficient when executing a Recurring Buy?

If you do not have enough funds, Recurring Buy will use your remaining available balance. If your balance is zero, the order will not go through and will be marked as "Triggered but not actioned" in your order history. If you top up your funds before the next scheduled run, your next Recurring Buy will proceed as normal.
