How to use Route planning in the Driver app

Updated yesterday

The user of the mobile app receives information about the planned route with addresses on the route structured in the same sequence as planned in the Route planning section. The user can't voluntarily change the sequence of addresses. A user observes the route and marks actions on the route (address started, completed, declined, etc). This data is immediately sent back to the route planning software, allowing its operators to observe route progress and completion. Simultaneously, the data from the tracking device is automatically sent to the fleet management solution for observing the actual vehicle’s location.

The changes/amendments to the route can be done on the go, but the necessary re-planning should be done on the platform. All route updates will be immediately uploaded to the mobile app.

🔔 The route changes are available only to the parts of the route not yet marked as 'Completed'.

It's possible to work simultaneously on a single route only. Namely, if a route has been marked as 'Started', no other routes can be started until all addresses on a route are either completed or declined. However, if the route has been started by mistake and the first address status on a route is in status 'Started', it's possible to open route details, tap addresses status and change it back to 'Not started'. In this case, the user can pick another route to start its first address.

Start Route’s Address

Find the route in the relevant section of the app and choose the planned route.

If there is a route with the start address you will be able to start navigation from your location to the start address. After the start location is reached, click Start to start the first address on a route.

The status of an address will be changed on the screen.

Observe details

Click inside the address area to see detailed address info.

Address details screen will be opened, showing the following:

  • The complete address information on the route;

  • The option to copy the geographical coordinates of the address;

  • Distance to the address and time necessary to reach it;

  • Option to click the Start navigation that will open the navigation app;

    📘 Make sure the associated app supports navigation for the type of vehicle being used to consider all road limitations and restrictions. It's strongly recommended to use a professional navigation app, i.e. Sygic, if heavy truck restriction abidance is a necessity

  • Loading/unloading quantity of the cargo;

  • Additional notes if added;

  • Client info if added.

Click on a plus icon to add attachments.

Click on the status area to change the status of the address accordingly.

Change Address Status

The status of each address on a route has to be marked to ensure proper information exchange between the route planning platform components and correct navigation on the route.

The status can be changed from the Route screen or when a specific address is opened for details.

Loading → The current location is at the address of the destination, loading/unloading operations.

Declined → Reaching of the address is declined.

Completed → Reaching of the address and related loading/unloading is completed and the user may proceed to the next address on a route.

Not started → The address has not been started yet. This status can be selected when an address to reach was picked by mistake or an unplanned pause has to be made, etc.

Cancel → The status change and return to the Address Details screen.

📘 As soon as the address status is changed, the relevant update is sent to the route planning platform.

Similar statuses can be modified from the WEB platform.

Route Updates

All updates made for a planned route, regardless of whether the route has or hasn't been started, will be added to the route automatically. There's no need to refresh or relaunch the application.

Check Completed Routes

After all addresses on a route have been finished (completed or declined), route information remains available in the Planned routes section of the app under Completed routes.
