How to start using Route planning

Updated yesterday

To successfully use the Route planning solution, a few setup steps must be completed in the platform. These ensure that users, vehicles, and mobile app access are properly configured for smooth route optimization and assignment.

Set up Users

  • Make sure that the users who will be working with Route planning have the necessary access rights to the platform.

  • User rights and permissions can be managed in the Settings → Users section.

  • Ensure that the Route planning module is enabled and that communication with the driver/vehicle is activated (if not sure which communication type is used, reach out to Support).

This setup allows users to access planning features, assign routes, and track progress effectively.

Configure Vehicle Parameters and Settings

🔔 By default, all vehicles in the system are considered cars (light motor vehicles). If you’re using cargo trucks or specialized transport, make sure to adjust height/weight limits and road restrictions to reflect the vehicle type.

  • Go to the Fleet section to configure vehicle details and driving preferences for each unit. These parameters are crucial because they directly affect route optimization, cost calculations, and restrictions.

  • The Driving preferences tab in each vehicle’s settings is the most important: here, in the Navigation profile, you define factors such as load capacity, size, or restrictions for trucks.

Set up Mobile app Users

The access to the mobile application will depend on the Route planning type you will choose whether it is by vehicle or driver.

Create user credentials (username and password) in either Fleet or Driver management.

Access for Vehicle

With these credentials, drivers will be able to log in to the mobile app, receive planned routes, and start navigation.

This ensures that your team on the road can seamlessly connect to the platform and follow assigned routes.
