Column Order & Search Functions

On all screen views showing lists, there are two powerful tools allowing data to be displayed and analysed in many ways. The example here is the resident list:

Note that the default order is in ‘bed no.’ order. Clicking anywhere in the header of the ‘resident name’ column reorders the list;

The ‘resident name’ field is simply alphanumeric, so it will sort by the first letter even if this is the resident’s forename. If you wish to enable ordering by surname, you should enter names with the surname first, e.g. ‘Smith, Peter’.

By clicking on the header of each column, the residents will be reordered from lowest to highest alphanumeric value. Clicking again will reverse the order, from highest to lowest; in the following screen shot, clicking twice in the highlighted column will list the most dependent residents first;

Note that you can add two identical entries, e.g. for resident name or room number. This is where resident ID, which should be unique, will help distinguish between two residents with similar names.

The ‘search’ function allows filtering to locate specific data in the whole table. This is useful when there are many residents in the list and, for example, you are looking for a specific resident ID:

Simply enter any partial or full word / number you are looking for wherever there is a search box at the top of the list.

Note that any applied filters are removed when another selection is made from the menu (with the exception of the optional feature Home Groups (optional feature)
