Here’s a step-by-step explanation of the A2CofC renewal process:
Step 1: Eligibility
If your certificate has already expired:
You cannot renew directly. You must complete and pay for a full A2CofC course.
Ensure you book your renewal course while your A2CofC is still valid to avoid this.
If your certificate is within 6 months of expiring:
You can start the renewal process. However, renewal exams cannot be conducted earlier than six months before the expiry date.
If your certificate is not expiring within 6 months:
You cannot begin the renewal process yet.
Step 2: Submit Required Evidence
To renew your A2CofC, you must declare your competence and provide the following documents:
Proof of Identity (e.g., a government-issued ID).
Current A2CofC Certificate (still valid at the time of booking).
Valid Flyer ID (issued by the Civil Aviation Authority).
Flight Logs showing that you have completed the practical self-learning requirements within the last 3 months.
Step 3: Take the A2CofC Theory Exam
You must complete a theory exam to renew your certificate.
If You Pass:
A new A2CofC certificate will be issued, valid for 5 years from the expiry date of your current certificate.
If You Fail:
You must complete a full A2CofC theory course and retake the theory exam.
Retakes use an alternate set of questions.
You are allowed a maximum of 5 attempts at the theory exam.
If You Fail All 5 Attempts:
You must purchase and complete a full A2CofC course as if you were a new candidate.
