Before depositing crypto into your Coinmetro account, it’s important to know that wallet addresses are unique for each token and network. For example:

  • Ethereum (ERC-20) addresses typically start with 0x

  • Terra (Native) token addresses start with terra

This is because different tokens are supported on different networks, and using the wrong address for a deposit can result in lost funds.

πŸ” Finding Your Wallet Address

Please select the instructions below for the version of Coinmetro you are using:

πŸ“± How to Find Your Wallet Address on the Mobile App

  1. Open the Coinmetro mobile app.

  2. From the home screen, tap Deposit.

  3. Select Crypto.

  4. Select the cryptocurrency you want to deposit.

  5. Select the network (if multiple network options are available). From here, you will find the wallet address for your selected cryptocurrency.

  6. From the sending wallet, send your crypto to your Coinmetro wallet address details shown on the screen. You can easily copy and paste the wallet address by clicking the copy symbol, and then pasting it into the withdrawal form in the sending wallet. Alternatively, you can scan the QR code directly from the form.

  7. If applicable, copy and paste your tag or memo into the withdrawal form in the sending wallet.

  8. When done, you can close the pop-up.

You'll receive an email once we've received the funds and when they've been credited to your Coinmetro account.

That's it! Your funds are on the way to your Coinmetro account.

Important Notice for ERC20 Wallet Addresses

Due to demand for ERC20 addresses, if a deposit has not been made within 7 days after the address is first created, we may reassign the address, so please return here to see the most up to date address to prevent any permanent loss.

Only use the ERC20 method to deposit funds to Coinmetro. Other methods (e.g BEP2/OMNI) are not supported and will result in the permanent loss of deposited funds. When sending funds from a smart contract , they may be lost. Always ensure to use sufficient gas to fund the transaction to this wallet address.

πŸ“‹ Copying and Pasting Your Wallet Address

Once your wallet address is displayed:

  1. Click the Copy icon next to the wallet address.

  2. Paste the address into your external wallet to complete your deposit.

βœ… Tip: Always double-check the address before sending funds. Using the wrong address or network can result in permanent loss of crypto.

πŸͺ™ Network Fees and Confirmations

Each deposit must first be confirmed on the blockchain network. Confirmation times vary depending on network traffic and the number of confirmations required. Most deposits appear within a few minutes, but busy networks (like Ethereum) may take longer.

πŸ” Reusing Wallet Addresses

You can safely reuse the same wallet address for multiple deposits of the same asset, unless otherwise stated. Some assets may require a new address or memo/tag for each transaction, so always check before sending.

⚠️ Important: Due to demand for ERC-20 addresses, if a deposit has not been made within 7 days after the address is first created, we may reassign the address. Please return to the crypto deposit screen to double-check your wallet address before sending to prevent any permanent loss.

🏷️ Destination Tags and Memos

Certain tokens, such as XRP, XLM, or ATOM, require an additional destination tag or memo along with your wallet address. Missing this information may cause delays or result in lost funds.

πŸ“€ Sending Funds on the Wrong Network

Sending crypto on the wrong network (for example, sending ETH via Binance Smart Chain instead of Ethereum) is generally not recoverable. Always confirm both the token and the network before finalizing your transfer. If you have deposited a cryptoasset on the wrong network, please contact our Customer Support team as soon as possible.

FAQs

πŸ’° What’s the difference between a wallet address and a network?

A wallet address is where your crypto is sent and received, while the network determines the blockchain it travels on. For example, USDT can exist on multiple networks such as Ethereum (ERC-20) or Polygon (POL). Always ensure you’re using the correct address + network pair shown on Coinmetro before depositing.

πŸ”„ Can I use the same wallet address for multiple tokens?

No β€” each token has its own unique wallet address. Sending a token to the wrong wallet address (for example, sending BTC to an ETH address) can result in the permanent loss of funds.
