This article assumes that you are already familiar with Cofinity-X Portal and that you have an active account.
To work through the initial setup, it is necessary that you create the following technical users:
Semantic Model Management
Identity Wallet Management
Dataspace Discovery
CX Membership Info
In a later step, these technical users need to be connected to your Catena-X Dataspace core services (For more information see Add Core Services).
What is a Technical User?
Technical User refers to a non-human entity within the Catena-X system that is responsible for executing specific tasks and functions related to data exchange and management.
The technical user "Semantic Model Management" for example, manages the lifecycle and governance of data structures of submodels, ensuring their semantic consistency across the ecosystem.
For a more in-depth explanation on how to create a technical user, see Technical User Creation.
Step 1 - Create Technical User "Semantic Model Management"
The Semantic Model Management provides a framework for organizing data by assigning meaningful definitions to data and their relationships.
It automates tasks such as registering, maintaining, and retrieving these data structures, so called semantic models. These semantic models are crucial for interoperability between participants in the network. By defining standardized semantics, it ensures that data exchanged between different systems is understood consistently.
The technical user Semantic Model Management will provide a set of predefined semantic models, such as bill of materials (BOM), information about product stocks (ProductStocks) and many more.
Log in to your Cofinity-X Portal account.
Navigate to Technical Setup > Technical User Management.
Select Create Technical User.
Fill in the required fields in the popup:
Enter a meaningful Name for the technical user.
Enter a meaningful Description.
Select the technical user role Semantic Model Management.
Select Confirm to create the technical user.
NOTICE
Creating a technical user may take several minutes.
Step 2 - Create Technical User "Identity Wallet Management"
The technical user "Identity Wallet Management" provides access to your own company wallet. This wallet management is essential for setting up components in your Catena-X Dataspace.
Log in to your Cofinity-X Portal account.
Navigate to Technical Setup > Technical User Management.
Select Create Technical User.
Fill in the required fields in the popup:
Enter a meaningful Name for the technical user.
Enter a meaningful Description.
Select the technical user role Identity Wallet Management.
Select Confirm to create the technical user.
Step 3 - Create Technical User "Dataspace Discovery"
The technical user "Dataspace Discovery" shares a catalogue of your available data with partners. Valid partners can use this catalogue to see what data you could provide. The visibility is also regulated via policies and contracts (For more information, see Define Policies for Contracts).
Log in to your Cofinity-X Portal account.
Navigate to Technical Setup > Technical User Management.
Select Create Technical User.
Fill in the required fields in the popup:
Enter a meaningful Name for the technical user.
Enter a meaningful Description.
Select the technical user role Dataspace Discovery.
Select Confirm to create the technical user.
Step 4 - Create Technical User "CX Membership Info"
The technical user "CX Membership Info" shares your Catena-X (CX) membership information with partners. It also provides you with a catalogue of all active Catena-X participants.
Log in to your Cofinity-X Portal account.
Navigate to Technical Setup > Technical User Management.
Select Create Technical User.
Fill in the required fields in the popup:
Enter a meaningful Name for the technical user.
Enter a meaningful Description.
Select the technical user role CX Membership Info.
Select Confirm to create the technical user.
Next Steps
After creating the technical users, the next step is to add your first Catena-X dataspace. For more information, see Add a Dataspace.
