A QR code on a room card or at reception cannot open a chat widget. It can only open a link. Web Messenger has one: a fixed link that drops the guest straight into a conversation, ready to type, without visiting your website first.
Use it anywhere the widget cannot go: a QR code, a printed card, a message on another channel, or a page where Web Messenger is not installed.
Getting the link
Go to Settings > Websites.
If you run more than one website, use the switcher at the top to select the one you want a chat link for.
Copy the Key field, using the copy icon beside it. This is the same Key used in the Web Messenger install snippet further down the page, so it identifies that one website.
Your chat link follows this pattern:
https://app.bookboost.io/YOUR-KEY/conversation. Replace YOUR-KEY with the value you copied. To check the link before using it, click Try It next to the Web Messenger Snippet box. It opens exactly that link, with the same widget your website visitors see.
Copy the Key rather than typing it out. A single mistyped character sends the guest to an error page instead of a conversation.
What guests see
The link opens to a plain page showing your business name, with the chat launcher in the corner, the same launcher guests see on your website. Opening it starts a conversation in the Unified Inbox, and any automated replies you have set up for Web Messenger apply the same way they would for a visitor on your site.
Each device that opens the link starts its own conversation, the same as a new visitor arriving on your website for the first time.
What this does not do
No personalisation. The link is the same for everyone, so nothing on the page or in the opening message can be filled in with a guest's name, room, or booking.
The link is public. Anyone who has it can open it, not only your guests. Do not rely on it to keep a conversation private.
It follows the website it belongs to. Change that website's widget appearance or automated replies, and everyone with the link sees the change, including QR codes already printed.
What to do next
See Web Messenger for installing the widget on your website, and Static page links if what belongs behind the QR code is a Guest App page rather than a live conversation.
