Create a broadcast

How to create a Broadcast in the campaign wizard, from the + Campaign button to the campaign screen where you build the message.

A Broadcast is a one-off send: a newsletter, an offer, or an announcement that goes to whoever matches your audience at the moment you publish. Creating one takes a few clicks in the campaign wizard, and the choices you make there set the campaign type and the channels it can use. Everything else, including the send time, the audience, and the content, is set on the campaign screen afterwards.

Before you start

  • Decide whether the message should go out once, or repeatedly whenever something happens to a reservation. If it should run automatically off reservation events, create a Journey campaign instead. See How to create a Journey campaign.

  • Have a name in mind that your colleagues will recognise in the campaign list, for example "October newsletter" rather than "Test 2".

  • If you plan to reach a large audience, check the sending limit first. See Set up a Broadcast.

Creating the broadcast

  1. Go to Campaigns, then Broadcast in the left menu, or open platform.bookboost.io/crm/broadcasts directly.

The Campaigns menu in the left navigation

  2. Click + Campaign in the top-right corner.

    Click on Campaign

  3. Under What kind of campaign would you like to setup?, select One Time Campaigns. This is the option that creates a Broadcast. Automated Campaigns creates a Journey instead.

Choosing One Time Campaigns to create a Broadcast

  4. Choose New Campaign to start from a blank campaign, or Duplicate Existing to use a campaign you already have as a template.

Click on Would you like to create from scratch or duplicate an existing campaign?…

  5. Choose the channels you want to target: Omnichannel Campaign for all available channels, Messaging Campaign for messaging channels such as SMS and WhatsApp, or Email Campaign for email only.

Click on Which channels would you like to target?…

  6. Type a name in What would be the name of your campaign?

    Type in text field

  7. Under Assign Categories, create or select a category. This is optional, and the field is empty until someone in your team creates the first category.

Click on Create or select a category

  8. Click Create Campaign.

Which options to pick

  • One Time Campaigns sends once, to the guests who match when you publish. Automated Campaigns sends off a reservation event, every time it happens.

  • New Campaign gives you a blank campaign. Duplicate Existing is worth using when you already have a Broadcast whose content, channels, or audience you want to reuse.

  • Omnichannel Campaign is usually the safer choice, because the message still reaches the guest if one channel is unavailable. Messaging Campaign and Email Campaign restrict the Broadcast to those channels for the whole campaign.

You do not have to get the channels right first time. You can change them later on the campaign screen under Channel Preferences, where you also rank the order they are tried in.

After you click Create Campaign

The campaign opens, ready to build. Nothing is sent at this point, and no guest is affected. From here you set the send time, add an audience, and build the content, then review and publish. See Set up a Broadcast for that part of the flow, and Schedule a recurring broadcast if this one should repeat on a cadence.

Common questions

What is the difference between One Time Campaigns and Automated Campaigns?

A One Time Campaign is a Broadcast: it sends once, to whoever matches your audience at that moment. An Automated Campaign is a Journey: it keeps sending, to each guest whose reservation meets the trigger. See Scheduling campaigns: Broadcasts vs. Journeys if you are not sure which one fits.

Can I change the channels after the campaign is created?

Yes. Open Channel Preferences on the campaign screen and adjust them, including the order the channels are tried in.

Do I have to assign a category?

No. Categories help you group campaigns in the list, and you can add one later. If nobody in your team has created a category yet, the field will be empty.

Does anything send when I click Create Campaign?

No. The Broadcast only goes out after you have set a time, added an audience, added content, and published it.

Can I reuse a Broadcast I have already sent?

Yes. Choose Duplicate Existing in the wizard and pick the campaign you want to copy.
