What is a Broadcast?

What a Broadcast is, how it differs from a Journey, and when to use one.

When you need to tell every guest the same thing at the same time, a Broadcast is the tool. A weekend restaurant offer, a lift out of service, a storm warning: one message, one audience, one moment.

How a Broadcast differs from a Journey

A Journey is automated. It triggers off a reservation event, such as three days before check-in, and it keeps running for every guest who meets that condition. The timing is personal to each guest.

A Broadcast is manual. You choose the audience and the moment, it sends once, and everyone receives it together. Nothing about it adapts to an individual guest's dates.

That difference decides which one you need. If the message depends on where a guest is in their stay, use a Journey. If it applies to everybody right now, use a Broadcast. See Scheduling campaigns: Broadcasts vs. Journeys for a fuller comparison.

What a Broadcast lets you do

  • Send over one or more channels: Email, SMS, or WhatsApp.

  • Write a message specific to the moment, rather than a template that has to work for everyone.

  • Target a guest group using an audience or a profile filter.

  • Send immediately, or schedule it for a specific time.

The setup follows the same shape as building a Journey campaign, so if you have built one of those you already know most of this.
