Track group reservations (Blocks and Allotments) from Opera Cloud

How Bookboost ingests Opera Cloud Blocks, links pick-up reservations to their group, and recognises the Posting Master for group billing.

Introduction

Opera Cloud's group bookings — Blocks and Allotments — are now visible in Bookboost. Bookboost ingests Opera Cloud Blocks and links each guest's picked-up reservation back to its parent group, so group business like weddings, conferences, and tour groups shows up alongside individual reservations.

How it works

  • Block (Allotment) ingestion. Bookboost syncs Opera Cloud Blocks — the containers that hold inventory, rates, and negotiated prices for a group.

  • Pick-up reservation linking. When an individual guest reservation is picked up from a Block, Bookboost automatically links it to its parent group, preserving the group hierarchy.

  • Posting Master support. The billing master reservation (Posting Master) for each group is recognised and stored, so group charges route to the correct billing account.

Common use cases

  • Viewing a group's reservations together. See every guest reservation that belongs to a wedding or conference block in one place.

  • Tracking pick-up against the block. Compare how many rooms have been picked up against the block's allocated inventory.

  • Routing group billing. Identify the Posting Master so group charges route to the correct master account.

Things to know

  • Read-only from Opera Cloud. Bookboost reads group reservation data from Opera Cloud; you cannot create or modify Blocks from within Bookboost.

  • Reservations must be linked in Opera Cloud. A reservation is only recognised as part of a group once it is explicitly linked to a Block in Opera Cloud (via blockId/blockCode). Reservations without that link are treated as individual bookings.

For the full list of integration-wide limitations, see Opera Cloud integration limitations and things to know.

Configuration and Setup

No extra setup is needed in Bookboost once the Opera Cloud integration is active. Group Blocks are created and managed in Opera Cloud (OHIP); Bookboost picks them up automatically once a reservation is linked to a Block. To connect a property, see Setting up the Opera Cloud integration. For a wider overview of what syncs between Bookboost and Opera Cloud, see What the Opera Cloud integration does.
