Introduction
Connecting Opera Cloud to Bookboost brings your reservations, guest profiles, and more into Bookboost, and lets guest details collected in Bookboost flow back to Opera Cloud. Setup needs a few details from your Opera Cloud instance and some configuration on the Opera Cloud side. This article explains what to provide and what to set up; Bookboost completes the connection once it has these.
What to provide
Give your Bookboost contact the following from your Opera Cloud instance:
Enterprise ID, chain code, and region (from your Opera Cloud admin).
Hotel ID for each property to connect (sometimes called
x_hotel_id), one per property. The external system code you create in Opera Cloud (see below).
Configure in Opera Cloud
Enable an external database: go to Toolbox, System Setup, External Databases and enable it.
Create the external system code: go to Administration, Interface, Business Events, External Systems and create the code. Each property needs its own external database entry. See Oracle's guide on external databases in Opera Cloud.
Activate business events for: reservations (new, updated, deleted), profiles (new, updated, deleted), housekeeping (updates), and rate (updates).
If you also use IHG
IHG creates reservations through a separate channel, and by default Bookboost only sees reservations created inside Opera Cloud. To capture reservations created through IHG, ask your IHG contact to forward IHG creation events into the Opera Cloud business events feed. This setup has been known to stop silently, so it is worth checking periodically.
Configuration and Setup
Once you have provided the details above and configured Opera Cloud, Bookboost completes the connection on its side and confirms when it is live. Each physical property is connected individually.
Importing your reservation history
Once live, the integration keeps data up to date automatically. To bring in past reservations, Bookboost can run a historical import for a date range you choose. There is no strict limit on how far back it can go; for large volumes it is brought in smaller batches (for example three months at a time) to stay within Opera Cloud's API rate limits. The import can filter by arrival date or by creation date, whichever you prefer.
