Dynamic date options on the "Guest is in Hotel" and "Guest stays over at Hotel" filters

The "Guest is in Hotel" and "Guest stays over at Hotel" audience filters support dynamic date options (Today, This week, and Next X days) that recalculate each time the audience runs, instead of using a fixed date range.

The "Guest is in Hotel" and "Guest stays over at Hotel" filters have two modes. The default is a fixed date range, which stays the same every time the audience runs. The other option is a dynamic date option, which recalculates the date range each time the audience runs so it reflects who is in the hotel at that moment. In a Recurring Broadcast, a dynamic option means the audience selects the current guests on each run without you editing the filter.

How it works

A dynamic option is calculated at the moment the audience runs, relative to that run date. There are three options.

  • Today. Targets guests in the hotel today, evaluated each time the audience runs.

  • This week. Targets guests in the hotel any time during the current week (Monday to Sunday), evaluated each time the audience runs.

  • Next X days. Targets guests in the hotel over the next N days from when the audience runs. This defaults to 7 days, and you can set your own number.

How to use a dynamic date option

1. Open the audience builder and add or edit a "Guest is in Hotel" or "Guest stays over at Hotel" filter.

2. Open the date-mode dropdown on that filter.

3. Pick a dynamic option: Today, This week, or Next X days.

Select an option

4.If you chose Next X days, enter the number of days you want (the default is 7).

Click on 7

5. Save the audience. It now recalculates the date range on every run.

Examples

  • This week: a weekly Recurring Broadcast to everyone staying that week, for example a WhatsApp message about the hotel bar.

  • Today: a daily message to the guests in-house that day, for example the breakfast menu, spa availability, or the day's event schedule.

  • Next X days: a message to guests checking in over the next few days, for example early check-in or a room upgrade.

Known limitations

  • The week runs Monday to Sunday. Locale-specific week starts (for example Sunday to Saturday) are not yet configurable.

  • Three dynamic options for now. Only "Today", "This week", and "Next X days" are available. "Last X days", "This month", and "Next month" are not yet supported.

  • Existing audiences are unaffected. The default mode is still the fixed date range, so audiences you saved before this change continue to behave exactly as before.

Common questions

Do I need to edit my audience each time it runs?
No. A dynamic option recalculates the date range on every run, so the audience selects the current guests without any change to the filter.

When exactly is the date range calculated?
At the moment the audience runs. "Today" and "This week" are relative to the run date, and "Next X days" counts forward from when the audience runs.

Which day does "This week" start on?
Monday. The week runs Monday to Sunday, and this is not currently configurable.

Will this change my existing audiences?
No. Saved audiences keep using the fixed date range unless you edit the filter and pick a dynamic option yourself.
