Broadcast advanced settings

What Shorten Links and Prioritize Language do at the Review and Publish step.

Two toggles at the final step of a Broadcast decide whether your links are trackable, whether your SMS reaches Nordic phone numbers at all, and which language each guest receives. They are easy to miss, and the defaults are not always what you want.

Where to find them

  1. Open the Broadcast under Campaigns in the left menu.

  2. Click through to the Review and Publish step.

  3. At the bottom of the page, next to the publish buttons, click Advanced.

Shorten Links

When this is on, Bookboost shortens any URL in your message using its own shortener. Keep it on for SMS and WhatsApp unless you have a specific reason not to, for two reasons.

First, delivery. If links go out through a public shortener in an SMS, the message will most likely not reach guests with phone numbers in the Nordics, because of carrier restrictions. Bookboost's own shortener avoids that.

Second, tracking. Click tracking only works on shortened links. Turn this off and you lose click data for SMS and WhatsApp. Email tracking is not affected either way.

Prioritize Language

This toggle decides what wins when a guest's preferred language and your preferred channel point in different directions.

On: language wins. The system picks the template in the guest's preferred language, even if that means sending on a different channel to the one you set as default.

Off: channel wins. The system sends on the preferred channel, using whichever language template exists for it.

Turn it on if you run a multilingual property and reaching guests in their own language matters more than the channel. Leave it off if a particular channel is non-negotiable for you.
