🔔 Configuring Inbox Notifications in Bookboost

Introduction

Staying on top of guest conversations is essential for delivering great hospitality. The Notifications section in Bookboost's Inbox Settings lets each operator personalise exactly how and when they receive alerts — so you never miss an important message, but you're also never overwhelmed. 🏨

Each operator configures their own notifications independently.

Main Concept: Notification Types & Events

Bookboost offers three notification delivery types, each of which can be independently subscribed to or unsubscribed from:

  • Push Notifications — alerts delivered directly to your browser, even when you're not actively on the Bookboost tab

  • In-app Notifications — alerts that appear while you have the Bookboost tab open

  • Email Notifications — updates sent directly to your email inbox

For each delivery type, you can choose which events trigger a notification, giving you full control over your alert preferences.

Use Cases

  • Getting a browser push alert the moment a new guest message arrives

  • Receiving an email when a conversation is assigned to you by a colleague

  • Staying informed when a snoozed conversation becomes active again

  • Being notified when a new team is created in the platform

  • Turning off in-app alerts during busy periods to reduce distractions

Configuration and Setup

  1. Go to Inbox Settings and select Notifications from the navigation bar.

  2. Choose a notification delivery type to configure: Push, In-app, or Email.

  1. For each type, subscribe or unsubscribe to the individual events listed below.

  2. Repeat for each delivery type as needed.

Notification Events:

Conversations:

  • Incoming Message — triggered when a new guest message is received

  • Conversation Assigned to Me — triggered when a colleague assigns a conversation directly to you

  • Conversation Assigned to Team — triggered when a conversation is assigned to one of your teams

  • Conversation Snoozed Ends — triggered when a previously snoozed conversation becomes active again

  • Conversation Inactivity — triggered when a conversation requires attention due to inactivity

Teams:

  • New Team — triggered when a new team is created in the platform

Known Issues or Limitations

  1. Notification preferences are configured per operator — admins cannot set notifications on behalf of other operators.

  2. Push notifications require browser permission to be granted. If you're not receiving them, check your browser's notification settings.

Conclusion

Configuring your notifications thoughtfully means you stay informed without being distracted. Take a few minutes to set up each delivery type according to your working style — whether you prefer real-time browser alerts, or a combination of both — and you'll always be in control of your inbox.
