Set up the direct Expedia integration

Connect Bookboost directly to Expedia Messaging so guest messages arrive in your Unified Inbox in real time, check the connection from inside Bookboost, and backfill the last 30 days.

Guest messages from Expedia arrive in your Unified Inbox as they are sent, and replies go straight back to the guest on Expedia. This is a direct connection to Expedia Messaging rather than a redirect of Expedia's notification emails, so messages, reservation details, and attachments come through as they are, and your team works the conversation in the same place as every other channel.

Properties with access to Expedia Partner Central can switch this on themselves.

Before you start

  • Access to Expedia Partner Central for the property, with permission to change connectivity settings.

  • One connection per property. If you manage several properties, you will repeat the steps for each one.

How to set this up

  1. Log in to Expedia Partner Central at partnercentral.expediagroup.com with your property credentials.

  2. Go to Rooms and Rates, then Connectivity Settings.

  3. Select Add a provider.

  4. Search for Bookboost AB, select it, and select Next.

  5. Under Messaging, select Connect.

  6. Select Next, then Confirm.

Bookboost AB now appears in your list of connected providers.

After you connect

Expedia confirms the connection to your property and to Bookboost. That confirmation carries your Expedia property ID, so there is nothing you need to send us separately. Bookboost finishes setup from there and confirms when messages are flowing. New Expedia conversations then appear in your Unified Inbox.

You do not have to wait to be told. You can see the state of the connection yourself, as below.

Checking the connection in Bookboost

Go to Messaging > Inbox Settings > Integrations and open Expedia.

Admin only. The Integrations section is hidden for Operators without admin access, so if you cannot see it, that is why.

Under Connections you will find every property that is linked, with the Expedia Property Id we hold for each one. This is the fastest way to answer two questions.

  • Is this property actually connected? If it is not listed here, the link is not in place yet, whatever Partner Central shows. That is the first thing to check when messages are not arriving.

  • What is my Expedia property ID? It is on this screen, so you do not need to go and find it elsewhere. Quote it when you contact us about a specific property.

If you manage a group of properties

The Connections table is the closest thing you have to an audit of your whole portfolio, and it is worth reading it deliberately rather than glancing at it.

  • Count the rows against your portfolio. One row means one connected property. If you run twelve hotels and see eleven rows, one was never connected — and that is far easier to spot here than by working through Partner Central property by property. A property missing from this list will not send messages to Bookboost even when every other property in the group is working normally.

  • Do not expect alphabetical order. The list is not sorted by property name, so scan the whole table rather than jumping to where you expect a hotel to be.

  • Use the ID when names are similar. Groups often have several properties on variations of the same name, where one is the flagship and the others carry a district or a sub-brand. The Expedia Property Id is the only thing on the row that is unmistakably unique, so use it to tell two similar hotels apart — and quote the ID rather than the name when you contact us, so we act on the property you actually mean.

  • Check it again after opening a property. A hotel added to the group later needs connecting in Partner Central on its own, and it will not appear here until that is done.

Backfilling the last 30 days

On the same screen, 30-Day Message Sync pulls the previous 30 days of Expedia messages into your Inbox rather than only messages sent from now on. Select Sync Last 30 Days to start one.

This is worth running in two situations.

  • Straight after connecting, so conversations already under way arrive with their history rather than starting mid-thread.

  • After an interruption, if messages stopped for a while and you want to be sure nothing was missed.

The table below the button tracks each sync, with the Property it ran for, its Status and Progress, when it was Added at, and when it Finished on. A sync is not instant, so check back rather than waiting on the screen.

Syncs are per property. If you manage a group, a sync covers the one property it ran for and no others. The Property column tells you which run belongs to which hotel, so you can start several and follow them independently. Connecting a new property later does not backfill it automatically — give that property its own sync.

Only the last 30 days. There is no way to reach further back than that. If you have already run a sync for a property and are not sure whether to run another, ask us first.

If you manage more than one property

Each property must be connected individually for the integration to work. Use the property selector in the top-right corner of Expedia Partner Central to switch property, then repeat the steps above for each one.

If your property is part of a group or chain

Properties managed under a group or chain with a dedicated chain code in Expedia Partner Central cannot self-activate. The same applies to properties managed by a large distribution provider. Contact Expedia's connectivity support team at connectivitysupport@expediagroup.com and ask them to configure the connection to Bookboost.

If you are moving to Bookboost from another connectivity provider, Expedia requires written confirmation from the property or chain before making the switch.

What comes through from Expedia

  • New guest messages arrive in real time, together with the reservation they belong to and any special requests the guest included.

  • Replies sent from Bookboost go back to the guest on Expedia, so the conversation stays in step in both systems.

  • Message history and attachments stay available on the conversation.

  • Reservation events come through as they happen. A conversation is created when a reservation is made, and updated when the reservation changes.

  • Guests can message before, during, and after the stay, and each message lands in the same conversation.

Which Expedia sites are covered

Messages from Expedia Group's partner sites reach Bookboost through this integration:

  • Expedia

  • Hotels.com

  • Travelocity

  • Orbitz

  • Cheap Tickets

  • Wotif

  • Ebookers

  • Mr Jet

  • Lastminute

  • Hotwire

Vrbo is the exception. Vrbo messages do not come through this integration.

What this does not do

  • Guest contact details do not come across. Expedia does not share the guest's personal email address or phone number. An Expedia conversation gives you the guest's message and their reservation, not a way to reach them by email, SMS, or WhatsApp.

  • A sync reaches back 30 days, no further. Messages older than that cannot be brought in.

  • A sync covers one property. There is no way to backfill a whole group in a single action.

  • Vrbo is not covered. Every other Expedia Group site listed above is.

  • Booking.com is not part of this integration. Booking.com messages reach Bookboost by a different route, described in How OTA guest messages reach Bookboost.

Common questions

Do I still need to redirect Expedia notification emails to Bookboost?
No. Once the direct connection is live, Expedia messages reach your Unified Inbox without any email routing. That route is only used for Booking.com. See How OTA guest messages reach Bookboost.

Nothing has arrived since I connected. What should I check?
Start in Bookboost. Open Inbox Settings > Integrations > Expedia and look at Connections. If the property is not listed, the link is not in place, and that is the problem. If it is listed, check in Expedia Partner Central that Bookboost AB shows as a connected provider under Messaging in Connectivity Settings for that specific property, rather than for another property in your group. If both look right and messages still are not arriving, contact us with the Expedia property ID shown on the Connections screen.

Messages are arriving for some of our hotels but not others.
Check the Connections table and count the rows against your portfolio. Connection is per property, so a hotel that was never connected in Partner Central sits silently outside the integration while the rest of the group works normally. The missing hotel is the one that is not in that list.

Can I get the messages guests sent before I connected?
Yes, up to 30 days back. Use Sync Last 30 Days on the Expedia screen under Integrations. Run it for each property you need it for.

Two of our hotels have almost the same name. How do I tell them apart?
By the Expedia Property Id on the Connections screen. It is unique to the property, so use it rather than the name when you are checking a connection or contacting us.

I cannot see the Integrations section.
It is admin only. Ask an admin on your account to check the connection for you.

Why can I not see the guest's email address or phone number?
Expedia does not share guest contact details over this connection. You can reply to the guest inside the Expedia conversation, but you cannot email, SMS, or WhatsApp them from the details Expedia provides.

Can the AI Agent reply to Expedia messages?
Yes. Expedia is one of the channels the AI Agent supports. Booking.com is the exception, where the AI Agent does not respond.

I manage several properties. Can I connect them all at once?
No. Connect each property separately using the property selector in Expedia Partner Central. A property that has not been connected individually will not send messages to Bookboost, even if others in the group have. The Connections table in Bookboost shows you which ones are actually linked.

What to do next

Expedia conversations are matched to the right guest profile automatically. See Automatically link Booking.com and Expedia messages to guest profiles.

Getting help

Open Help at the bottom of the left menu and choose Talk to Us, or email support@bookboost.io. Include your Expedia property ID for the property in question — you will find it under Inbox Settings > Integrations > Expedia, in the Connections table.
