This screen has been designed to display all active dispensing "Batches" and the current status of the batch. The Labelling and packaging process will take place from the batch, once these processes have been completed the batch can be closed, removing it from the batches screen.
To view a batch either scan the batch label or double click on the batch to begin dispensing.
To produce a dispensing label, you are required to scan a manufacturers barcode. CAPA will only produce dispensing labels if the correct barcode has been scanned. If you scan the barcode of the wrong product a warning appears and a dispensing label is not produced.
By doing this CAPA reduces picking and labelling errors.
Once the dispensing label is produced, its important to attach it to the packet immediately, to ensure the label corresponds to the right pack. You then simple move onto the next item to label and scan the manufacturers label to produce its dispensing label.
Barcode scanning is a fundamental safety feature of CAPA, and we recommend it is used whenever possible. There will however be occasions where products simply do not have a barcode & there has to be a way of producing dispensing labels, you can simply produce the label by right clicking on the item from the batch screen and selecting print label.
Please note that this process will produce another check at the packaging stage, because this dispensing label has not been produced by barcode validation.
Once all the items on the batch screen have been labelled, we press the complete batch button this marks the labelling process as completed and the batches moves to the packaging stage.
If there are items on the batch screen which we do not have in stock, and therefore cannot produce dispensing labels for, on pressing the complete batch button these items are marked as owing and placed on a list which are available for you to review through the search menu.
Once the stock is in, you can also produce a dispensing label from by going to the search tab, and selecting owing's, then by simply scanning the manufacturers barcode or highlighting the item from the list and selecting the label button.
If the item is still not available at the packaging stage, you can create a patient owing label at the point of packaging which is covered in the packaging and delivery stage.
