To action any stock discrepancies that show on atlas central's stock discrepancy dashboard tile, select the "view items" tab

Selecting the view items tab will take you to this page, where you can select the location and date and then select search.

Select the "action" tab for the medication you wish to action the stock discrepancy for

This page will pop up allowing you to fill in your explanation for the stock discrepancy. Once you have finished writing your explanation select the tab that says marked as actioned so that there is a tick in this section. And then select the save tab, your stock discrepancy explanation will now be saved.

The medication stock discrepancy that was just actioned will be able to be found on the stock discrepancy tile once you have ticked the box for show actioned and then selecting search. Selecting the action tab on a previously actioned stock discrepancy will show you what was written when the stock discrepancy was actioned.

Reasons for stock discrepancies;

Have there been any missing entries?

Are staff barcode validating medication for administration?

Are staff booking in medication by completing a stock take?

Did the resident go into hospital, and nothing was booked out/ in?

When an item was refused did the member of staff on duty answer the question "are you going to discard the medication added to the pot?" correctly"

Have staff returned stock incorrectly?

Has the member of staff on duty checked for any overflow stock?

Has a member of staff "manually" booked in medication and when asked "do you want to add the quantity to stock?" And selected no by mistake?

Has a member of staff booked medication / carried out a stock take on one device whilst medication was being administered on another?

Are staff using the "confirm pot" screen to check the amount of medication they should have in the pot prior to administration?

Are staff "Pre-potting" or signing for the administration before offering it to your residents? (Check the safe prep time and safe time with patient success on your homes atlas scorecard)

Did a member of staff give 1 analgesia and then try to give a 2nd within four hours, atlas said no, but the member of staff give it anyway and update the stock levels.
