If a resident is absent from the home for example in hospital or out for the day with their family, you must change their status on Atlas eMAR to stop their medicines being prompted to be given while they are absent and creating missing records.

To mark a resident as absent follow this process:

1. Log into Atlas eMAR and select view residents from the homepage. Scroll down until you find the resident you wish to set to an absent status and click on their name.

2. Select the icon named edit details on the middle right-hand side of the screen. There will be a drop-down menu which by default will say present. Select the new status of the resident from the drop-down menu. This action will need to be witnessed by a colleague.

3. When witnessing the change in status, the device will prompt of two thing, if you 'Would like to book out any stock for the resident to take with them?' This will amend the current stock levels should you choose to book any medication out. Also if you select yes the device will then prompt and ask 'Do you want to send an MAR via email for this patient? if you have set up a shared email for Mar charts this is the email the MAR will be sent too ready to print out and can be taken with the resident and any medications can be accounted for in the period of absence.

4. Once completed the residents profile should appear and remain in blue on the residents list. Medication will not prompt to be given until their status is changed to present again from 'Edit Resident' in the residents profile.

4. Once all steps have been completed synchronise the device.
