At Atlas eMAR, we strive to make the medication round as easy and straightforward as possible, in order to ensure that the right resident receives the right medication at the right time and in the right quantity.

The Atlas eMAR daily report is designed to highlight when the home is performing to the highest standards, and also to highlight areas of the medication administration that could be improved. You can track the improvement day by day, week by week. See who is performing at 100%, and who could use a bit more support.

The Atlas eMAR Daily Report Summary;

  • Barcoding of medication- The barcoding functionality is used as a safety net you to ensure you are giving the right medication and quantity, to the right resident at the right time. The barcoding of medication during administration rounds has been designed to minimise and prevent administrations errors. Only medication supplied from your regular pharmacy which has been barcoded using their CAPA system (Pharmacy dispensing system) will be available to scan using the Atlas device and items marked as "not given" will not be taken into account as the barcode would not be scanned to account for these medications. The value displayed in the report for this section is calculated on how may drugs have been given but have not have the barcode scanned during the administration round.

  • Missing entries- Missing entries are generated when a medication which is due for administration has not been account for on Atlas eMAR. Missing entries are displayed on the daily report 24 hours after medication has become a missing record (please note; a missed administration does not become a missing record until midnight on the day its due). Any medication that has a structured dosage and dosage reminders turned on should be accounted for at every due time to avoid any missing entries.

  • CD witnessed - It is best practice to have all CD administrations witness by another users on Atlas eMAR as well as being recorded in the CD register.

  • 'Stock unavailable' but stock was present - This area of the report is referring to any medication which has a stock figure or 1 or above however when the medication had been accounted for it has been marked as stock unavailable, this may mean that the stock is in the home but cannot be located or that a stock take on the medication is required.

  • 'Stock unavailable' but stock was not present - This area of the report is referring to any medication which has been accounted for as stock unavailable during the medication round and the current stock figure is currently 0. You may need to contact GP for a prescription immediately.

  • 'stock unavailable' but not on stock control- This area of the report is referring to any items which have been marked as stock unavailable and the item is not on stock control therefore may require immediate attention. Items which are not on stock control such as eye drops, creams and surgical items will need to have regular stock checks to avoid running out.

  • Low stock -Any medication listed in the low stock section on Atlas eMAR will have stock for 9 days or less before it will run out. The low stock section should be reviewed and actioned daily to avoid running out of medication.

  • Stock take - This indicates the quantity of residents on Atlas eMAR device who's medication requires a stock take. These items can be found in the stock option on the device. Any medication in the stock take section highlighted in red in this section should be reviewed and actioned daily to avoid affecting low stock warnings or indicating incorrect stock figures which could result in running out of medication.

  • Medication regularly not administered - This section refers to any medication which is not being administered regularly therefore may require a review. Not all medication qualifies to display is this section as it must meet the following requirements;

- Patient record is active (resident has not been marked as absent, away or in hospital)

- The medication must be active.

- The dosage must be structured, the dosage reminders must be turned on and the medication is not a PRN (when required) medication.

- The medication is managed by Atlas eMAR (Is not self medicating or managed on paper).
