If a resident is in hospital or out for the day with their family, you must change their status on Atlas eMAR to stop their medicines being prompted to be given while they are absent. Similarly, when the resident returns to the home they will need to be signed back into Atlas eMAR to ensure that their medication prompts as and when it is due after their return. Any medication that has been taken while the resident has been away will need to be accounted for, and a stock take done for these medications to ensure the balance is correct.
To mark a resident as present on follow this process:
1. Log into Atlas eMAR and select view residents from the homepage. Scroll down until you find the resident you wish to readmit and click on their name. Select the icon named edit details on the middle right-hand side of the screen.
2. There will be a drop-down menu which will give the reason for absence e.g. hospital. Select the new status of the resident from the drop-down menu, which will be present. This action will need to be witnessed by a colleague.
3. When their status is changed back to present the device will ask if any medication requires booking in and how you wish to manage any medication due at the time of their return. You will be given the two following options;
NO (Leave as due) - This means the medication which would normally be due at this will remain in red and the responsibility of administering and accounting for that medication will remain with the home.
YES (mark as given) - By selecting this option you will be turning any medication which would normal display in red to indicate it is due, to display in orange and the A4 code (Resident absent) will be applied to the MAR chart for any medication due at this time. Any medication due at the next medication round will prompt as normal.
4. Once all steps have been completed, synchronise the device.
