PayPal is not part of smarta’s standard payment process. However, in certain exceptional cases, we may offer it as an alternative – for example, if you’d like to use PayPal’s installment option or are unable to pay via SEPA direct debit or bank transfer due to technical reasons.
When is PayPal an option?
You can request to pay via PayPal in the following situations:
You’re currently unable to set up a SEPA direct debit
You're making a payment from abroad and don’t have a German bank account
You want to use PayPal’s installment payment feature
In these cases, please reach out to us. We’ll review your request individually and let you know whether PayPal is available for your situation.
Important: Processing fee
Paying via PayPal incurs an additional processing fee of €25. This fee covers the extra administrative effort and the deviation from our standard payment process.

Once the payment is received, you’ll receive confirmation, and we’ll apply the payment to your invoice
