Automatically Add Attributes to Objects
Automatically Add Attributes to Objects

This section describes how to automatically add attributes to points, lines, or triangles.

Updated over a week ago

Follow these steps to automatically add attributes:

  1. Create a new design or edit an already created one.

  2. Expand the ATTRIBUTES section in the right panel for the design.

  3. Here, we will add an attribute that uses color coding, so click the checkbox next to Color Coding. If there are no other attributes that can use color coding, the Color attribute will be preselected.

  4. Click Set Attributes on Objects.

  5. Add the attributes to be created on new objects by selecting the attribute in the list and clicking the plus icon. For example, add the standard attribute Color.

  6. Choose the value that should apply to the added attributes. For example, if you added the standard attribute Color, you can choose the color that new objects should be created with.

  7. In the toolbar, click the play icon, Automatically Add Attributes to New Objects. This means that all the attributes you added will be created on new points, lines, and triangles. The objects will have the values you specified for each attribute.

  8. Create your design in the scene using the point or line tool. Your objects will now have the attributes automatically linked to them. If you added the standard attribute Color, your new objects will have the chosen color.

  9. To stop new objects from automatically receiving attributes, click the stop icon in the toolbar.

  10. To see which attributes are associated with your objects in a design, hover the cursor over, for example, a point or a line segment. An information box will appear, showing all the linked attributes under Attributes.
