Attributes

This section describes how you can associate information with points, lines, and triangles in the form of various attributes.

Updated over a week ago

In design, you can use attributes to add information to your points, lines, and triangles. This allows you to include a lot of information in your design, such as related information to a survey, like color, name, code, or well depth. It can also be other information that you want to link to a point, such as a timestamp or description. If you only want to control the colors of points, lines, and triangles, you can specify an attribute and choose whether color coding should be used based on the selected attribute.

Information associated with points, lines, or triangles is displayed when you hover over the object in a design. Coloring is shown directly on the model without the need to edit your design.

Attribute management is under the ATTRIBUTE section in the right panel.

Attribute list - Here, you add, remove, or modify attributes and colors. The attribute list is currently unique for each design created.

Set attributes on objects - Here, you set attributes on points, lines, and triangles.

Attribute List

This lists all the attributes that can be associated with your design. By default, the Color attribute is available, which is a code list with different colors. This attribute may be suitable for use on objects if the need is only to distinguish objects with different colors.

To use colors in your design, activate Color Coding so that the model is colored based on the selected attribute.

In addition to the standard Color attribute, you can create custom attributes. To create custom attributes, click the New Attribute button.

Color Coding

When color coding is activated, you see the attribute that will be used for coloring. By default, the Color attribute is present and is the attribute that will be used for coloring. The Color attribute contains a code list with a number of colors to choose from. To check or change the colors in the attribute, select the attribute in the Attribute list. Here, you can change the colors in the attribute and add or delete colors.

New Attribute

If you want to create custom attributes for your design, click the New Attribute button. In the dialog that appears, you can choose from three different attribute types.

  • Code List / Colors

  • Number / Timestamp

  • Free Text

To create a new attribute that, for example, includes color and a code, choose the Code List type. Here, you name your code list and create the values to be associated with points, lines, or surfaces in the code list. For example, you can create a value "674 - Wastewater Pipe" in your code list and choose the color red. You can later add new values to your code list via the attribute list.

All attributes you create are displayed in the attribute list and can be changed afterward.

Set Attributes on Objects

Here, you can add the attributes available in the attribute list and use them to link information to points, lines, or triangles. By default, only the Color attribute is available for a design, but all available attributes can be added.

Automatically Add Attributes to New Objects

You can activate automatic addition of attributes to new objects by clicking on the play icon. Then, all selected attributes will be automatically linked.

Select Matching Objects

Here, you can choose to highlight matching objects in your design that have the attributes that have been added. This can be useful if you want to mark all objects in the scene with a specific attribute, e.g., Code "671 - Sewer Inspection Well.".

Update Marked Objects with Attributes

You can also set attributes on objects in the scene via the Update Marked Objects icon. First, select an attribute and add it via the plus icon to add it to the list. Then, choose a value for each attribute and mark one or more objects in the scene where the information should be linked. To link the information, click on the pen icon to write the attributes on the marked objects.

Clear All Attributes on Marked Objects

Used to clear all attributes associated with an object. Select the object in the scene and click on the clear icon.
